I should add...
The only thing that hinders this photo is the green UFO flare above Dalton's head. Yeah, flare sucks... I should know. I shot a wedding saturday and was only allowed 4 no-flash shots during the service. The lighting of the unity candle will need some PS work due to candle flare! Sorry, a bit OT.

This one is better. The other one is very, uh, 'grip and grin'. This one has a cool perspective and good lighting. Ignore the people (or webmonsters) who rated this picture between 1-3.

Scott,
I will try to dig out the negative/print (yes this was back in the days of film...) I don't have a neg scanner and my scanner is el-cheapo, so when I originally scanned it, it muted all the colors, and I decided it would look better in BW./daniel

My dad is a professor at the University of Alberta, and the police tactical team was planning on doing a mock-hostage taking in collaboration with campus security. My dad told me, I phoned the Campus Security head and asked if I could show up, he said yes... I showed up a few hours early the next day and got to know the 'higherups' in the tactical unit, and here's what I got! I will look for more portrait shots when I get the time, and will post them here on photo.net...

I think the people who spraypainted his signs are confused though. They probably meant to spraypaint the 'hakenkreuz', the WWII era symbol, which has the spokes on the swastika going clockwise. The one on the sign has the spokes painted in a counter clockwise position... an ancient eastern symbol for good luck. I wonder if they knew that. :P

Personally, I believe that this does not belong in the News/Journalism section because it violates the basic rules of photojournalism.
NPPA code of ethics
"6.Editing should maintain the integrity of the photographic images' content and context. Do not manipulate images or add or alter sound in any way that can mislead viewers or misrepresent subjects."
I am glad that you did inform the public about what you did to the photo, thank you for that. But, the real challenge is to make a photograph that does not need to be drastically altered to look good. THAT is what seperates the men from the boys in photojournalism.
