    Aurora 1

    I know where you live... bahahaha! :D

    Did you take this yesterday (Nov. 21)? As for this photo I would crop out your balcony, just so it is less distracting from the Aurora. Personally I think that this would make it look a lot better, but you can disagree! Maybe a slight tweak to the curves as well... Below is what I would envision it looking like.

    Fire in the skies

    Comments and critique are very welcome! Seeing this spectacle, I amreminded of the song 'How Great Thou Art' by Carl G. Boberg...

    Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder, Consider all the worlds ThyHands have made;

    I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy power throughout theuniverse displayed.

    Chorus:Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, Howgreat Thou art.

    Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, Howgreat Thou art!

    And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing; Sent Him to die, Iscarce can take it in;

    That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to takeaway my sin.

    When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation, And take me home,what joy shall fill my heart.

    Then I shall bow, in humble adoration, And then proclaim: "My God, howgreat Thou art!"

  1. I disagree with Eyeworks on one count. Do NOT remove the post-its. This is news/journalism, right? Removing the post-its would be misleading to the viewers of this image... See the NPPA Code of Ethics #6. "Editing should maintain the integrity of the photographic images' content and context. Do not manipulate images or add or alter sound in any way that can mislead viewers or misrepresent subjects." [bolding is mine]

    You shouldn't change the post-its now just for aesthetic purposes; all you can do is find a cleaner background next time. Personally, while they are not that aesthetically pleasing, the post-its and the calendar could imply a busy schedule... Maybe I am reading into the image too much.

    Matthew 25: 42-46

    42 for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink;

    43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.'

    44 "Then they also will answer Him, saying, "Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?'

    45 Then He will answer them, saying, "Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.'

    46 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

    This is a very powerful image, and I think the disjointed feeling works well; images like this go beyond pure aesthetics and originality. This image makes me FEEL pain for this poor man... I wish I could be there to help him... where others obviously failed... :(

    Did I mention that this photo evokes emotion?

  2. 1/1??? Seems like who's in the picture determines what rating it gets... The only problem that stands out in my mind is that you have some dead space on the top, and that you cut off the Cheneys' feet (solution, loose the space and keep the feet!). The 'blobs' give a sense of crowdedness, which is fine.

    Chris: Careful what you say or the zookeepers, er Homeland Security will be after you. ;)
