I don't know what it is about this picture, but I like it a lot! Facinating!

(The border is a bit distracting though...)

Do you think that the covering of one eye attracts or detracts from the photograph?

also: does the frame ruin or enhance the photograph?
Any comment that will help enhance my photography is appreciated!

For some reason, I keep coming back to this picture over and over again. Each time look at this picture I feel two emotions:
1)Thankfulness that God has blessed me by giving me life and everything I need.
2)Sorrow, because I see the defeated man in the picture and there is no way I can reach out to him and help him.
Well done!

"If you think you have learned everything there is to know about photography, you might as well hang up your camera now and do something else."

there is something in those eyes that captivates me... I want to sit down and hear his story! (as long as he doesn't shoot me... ;)
well done!

I did my job-shadow (naturally I did a photojournalist) which is mandatory at my school, and I got to cover, among other things, a house fire... and this is one of the random shots that I pulled off. I found this image to have a rather sad twist, because the inside of the house was either burned or smoke/water damaged, all the presents were wasted, and their dog died.

Thank you for reminding me that not all of us are as well off as others... It always hurts to see a photograph like this, but it is the truth. Even in my own city there is extreme poverty, and so many people choose to ignore it. I have made a personal decision not to complain about trivial things (like the sweater aunt Martha gets me for Christmas being the wrong color...) but to be thankful that I even have a sweater... Did I mention that this is a good photograph?
Have a blessed Christmas!

As an aspiring photojournalist, I (sort of) know how hard it is to take a picture like this...and you have done it well! I respect the viewpoints that others have, but I will say this: congratulations on making people angry/upset/annoyed - because if there is no emotion involved with a photograph (esp. photojournalism) it is useless.
Even simple photographs like this have gotten people rather inflamed, which is, in my opinion, good.
just my 2 cents...

I was out shooting a fire and decided that the fire trucks were more interesting than the fire...please critique!

That is so funny! (and it is original too) Good job!

I love this. Not only does it catch the eye from a distance but you keep looking at the various expressions on the potato peoples faces. Call me sinister, but it made me laugh!
