Thanks Claude,
I cropped the top some but was unsure about removing the water flowing in from the left. There were some foamy areas in the water (top and bottom) that did not render well thinking about trying to clean that up in ps. Thanks for the kind words.

Hi Michel,
This is a combination of three exposures of the same scene. The primary exposure was three seconds / f22 / ISO 100. I bracketed one stop over and under for highlights and shadows and combined the three in photoshop. Thanks for the kind words.

Hi Dan!
The picture was taken at 10:16 am, which was when I happened upon the view while walking the trail around the lake. Since this was my first visit to the location I was just exploring and taking in the awesome beauty of nature. None of the shots from this trip were very much planned, I was just kind of guessing on the light based on the topography of the map. So yeah when I go back next year I would start out earlier or not dawdle so much along the way to get to this spot earlier ;) One thing I noticed in the area (canyons with the fall color) is that sunrise/sunset photos really are not possible as the sun spends those magical times on the other side of one or the other mountains. Any earlier in this day the background trees in the picture would be in the shade of the mountain here, see the shadow just above them.
The subject of the picture is the shoreline of the lake with the fall color. The mountain behind is for context to identify the location of the shoreline. I thought it was pretty nicely "thirded" for a pleasing composition. I would perhaps crop the right third of the picture and go square with it, this is the full frame image. Maybe a lower viewpoint (shoreline or from a boat) at this location would make the subject more clear. Thanks for the input, much appreciated.

Thanks Allison, Peter, Dan, and Ricardo for the kind remarks.
Dan I will be looking for your image of this same spot... I was in the creek for this picture. If you should happen to find a wooden tripod leg section downstream from here, it may be mine. It slipped right out and washed away under the brush.

The old reflected in the new, our past so much of our present... well seen and captured!

The intended theme for the picture is motion... Camera panned to
follow the subject for 1/15 sec exposure. Thank you for your opinion
of this.

The position of the dog between the people and the water is great. Shepherd dog protecting the little one from the power of the earth. Thats what I see as the message...
The light in the hats of the people are a nice accent to the silhouette. Great backlighting for a dramatic image, well done :)
