try posting this the right way round!
-
this is a little better but the lighting is very flat. Judging by the posing going on with the guy behind on the Gibson, you'd have got better shots concentrating on him
-
a safe shot.
-
focus isn't sharp on the drummer by the look of things...
-
thoughts welcomed from concert photographers please! Neil
-
I think it works purely as an abstract. All the highlights are blown so technically its not great, but its eye catching.
-
looks like you had horrible light to contend with on this shot. Its a bit green for me, but that's tweakable in PS easily.
-
solid shot - lighting, exposure etc, but why all the empty space above? What about a tighter crop to elimiate that!?
-
I had to look at this for a while to figure out what it was. It fails by not being particularly sharp and needed stronger flash I think.
-
if you'd managed to move position so you'd fully silhouetted the performer this would be very strong, but it doesn't quite work. Also you'd need a wider aperture.
-
I'd have the performer closer to the 3rds line - ie further into and down in the shot. Unusual, but not quite there.
-
Please critique! For those of you who routinely rate 1's 2's and 3's,
please leave a comment or its a waste of my time and your's!!
-
One of four in my Avril Lavigne folder. Here she's striking a classic
pose up on a raised box. Deliberately shot to include her name on the
background. Any thoughts!? Thanks, Neil
-
to all the raters giving 1's and 2's and 3's - if your gonna rate
really really low, please explain with a comment - low ratings on
their own just don't help... thanks, Neil
-
Shot from behind their catwalk. As I was shooting into the light I
was very happy with the effect, and I like the interaction of the
person in the crowd taking a snap of Brian! Please only critique from
a concert photography perspective. Thanks, Neil
-
I was very happy to get a shot of Brian bending the strings like
that! One of a whole folder full from Wembley Pavillions last week...
-
Hi James, yes this is probably my favourite along with the one of Brian facing away into the lights and crowd. Kept the copyright on there because until the contract is finalised, they are still mine!!! ;-)
The 70-200 is a beauty - shutter speeds were high cos the lighting was so wonderful but with a bit of practice you can shoot at 1/125 at 200mm handheld.
-
one of many from Wembley on Wednesday night - it was an awesome
concert - this was exactly the effect I was after, so was very happy
with this one. More in my folder from the gig.
Cheers, Neil

Concert photography based critique welcome. Don't bother giving 1's
2's or 3's without a justified comment please.
-
Great capture! The slow sync works perfectly here and the flash has given you just enough light on the guy...
-
thanks guys, this was actually taken on a 17-35mm as my 28-70 smashed at the gig :-(
However due to being in the crowd I had no choice on moving around and this crop seemed to work well despite missing Willie's right hand off to get some intensity into the image. The original has both hands in but lots of empty space above, hence the tight crop. Cheers, Neil

please critique from a concert photography perspective, thanks.
-
the A80 is a little cracker, but its focused on the fret board rather than the face (which you'd expect the A80 to do). Shame as otherwise its not a bad shot.
-
superb - assume this is slow sync flash at work? The lighting is great. Excellent capture. The best concert shot I've seen on here for a while.
