really James? It looks okay on my screen here to me. Might dig out the RAW file and see what I got to start with!
-
Please let me know what you think. If you're giving 1's, 2's or 3's,
please let me have a comment as well. If you just don't like concert
photography, please don't rate! Thanks, Neil

yep, theres a little more contrast in this one, but its not dynamic. You need to shoot at f/1.4 to f/2.8 and try and wait for the performer to look up.
-
this is soft - like it was taken on a digital compact without a photo pass...shooting head on with the mike breaking the shot is never the best, and wtih this moment you can't see her face at all. Cheers, Neil www.imagesworldwide.com

solid enough shot but it lacks contrast and some dynamism. Soup up the contrast and saturation and see it improve loads! Cheers, Neil www.imagesworldwide.com
-
there is no focal point here unfortunately. Nice idea but it doesn't quite come together and your highlights are blown. Cheers, Neil www.imagesworldwide.com

just doesn't really do it for me I'm afraid - not sure what you're aiming for. Cheers, Neil www.imagesworldwide.com

crisp and well exposed but I'd prefer to see some ambient light or more contrast.
-
its different, but looks rather soft - and the frame is a no-no for me - let the photo do the work not a frame. I think composition could have been more dynamic too - this was an excellent opportunity and well seen but its only half way there...
-
just doesn't quite work - fill flash or slow sync flash (if allowed) would really help, but you needed to be the other side of the near performer too.
-
This is the lead singer of a rock band called The Glitterati. They
have been compared to both the Sex Pistols and Guns n' Roses. I tend
to use flash at gigs quite rarely (most venues ban it), but here the
light was shocking without flash and I enjoy the wild effects using
slow sync sometimes gives.
What I would really appreciate is some feedback from people that even
just vague 'get' concert photography - not simply an 'I love it'
or 'I hate it' rating without a comment.

ifyou want to see a whole lot more...
Thank you.

shot in colour on D2X, then desaturated with grain added in PS - an
experiment. Those hands are the crowd. Although I had a photo pass,
the venue didn't provide a pit so I took my life into my hands in the
mosh pit...!!

the mic makes this work James.Without it, its decent, with it, spot on! Reminds me a little of one I took of HIM at Download - he's staring back up at the shaft of light as if he's got the fear of god struck into him and he's about to be beamed up!!! Nice work.
-
James, this is cool mate - really distinctive, but I agree that a tighter crop without the lines or lettering would be more powerful - great to have something so unusual of someone so well known.
-
this is good, but the background is very distracting and the eyes are very dark.
-
what an opportunity to photograph Kelly! I think you could have done so much more though.
-
background very distracting. I'd have chosen to be directly in front - its very hard to get anything atmospheric with outdoor daylight performances, but angle doesn't help here.
-
you should have moved or cropped this far tighter - the blurred object in the bottom ruins an otherwise okay shot.
-
load of power to this one Chris, just a shame that you had to keep in part of the amp at the front. Nice colours. Had you been able to use some flash to pop a touch more light into his face that woudl have been superb, but I love the hair all up in the air.
-
shot outdoors at the Download Festival, so impossible to pick up much
saturation from stage lights, but I think it captures the essence of
Slash - let me know!
Please don't just leave 1's and 2's without a comment to justify -
you know who you are!

this is one of your strongest shots, James. This could have been taken any time in the past 20 years. Very well seen. Nothing I'd change, and I don't say that often!! Neil
-
very good.
-
a safe shot
-
usual, wel done, although its a shame the drum stick has picked up that green from the lights.
