  1. <p>Hi Guys:<br>

    Just a final update. I called Adobe tech support (number provided by customer support) and after 2 hours of working with them, it was decided that my disc was not a correct update disc. They are sending a new one to me by courier. Actually they downloaded the net trial version of CS5 Extended and used my serial number to install it without problem. All in all, excellent service from Adobe.<br>

  2. <p>I got an upgrade disc from Adobe to upgrade my CS5 to CS5 Extended. But it seems to just installed another version of CS5, not the Extended version. <br>

    When running set up using the upgrade disc with my original CS5 installed on the computer, it asked for the last 4 digits of my old CS5 serial number. But no matter I entered the new upgrade serial number, or just these 4 digits, I have only one option: That is to install another CS5 (Not Extended). It also has a message saying a version has already been installed. I tried several times and result is just installing CS5 again, no error messages, no Extended version.<br>

    Has anyone any experience like this and can tell me how I get the upgraded version installed?<br>

    I contacted Adobe customer support twice and they don't have a clue.<br>

    Any info greatly appreciated.</p>

  3. <p>I think there is a new film scanner coming out in July made by Pacific Image for 35 mm and 120 film. B&H has it on their site for under $2000. I am waiting for the review from some first users. Looks like a good substitute for the Nikons.<br>

    I currently have the Coolscan 5000, not that much for digitizing old negs, but for new ones from my film cameras. I don't usually scan more than a couple of frames from a roll so the time issue is not too bad, but it allows me to use all my 35mm film gear and do digital post processing. If the Pacific Image is good, my Hasselblad pictures can go the same route to digital.</p>

  4. <p>I shoot film a lot. Always have 2 bodies loaded with film. I use film cameras in rotation, two at a time, just to keep the fun coming. I still have every camera (and lens) I bought since day 1 (1987). Mostly Nikons, FE2, FM2, F3HP, F801s, F100, plus a Hasselblad 500cm, an Olympus OM1n, and 3 Konica Auto S2s.<br>

    Loading the film, advancing the frames, releasing the shutter.... just make me feel right. Still keep the wet darkroom, doing B&W only. For colors I sent out.<br>

    Of course, there is digital, but that is another story.</p>

  5. <p>Thanks Shun for the quick response. This is very interesting. Don't think we had the same issue back in the film days. ASA25 film didn't out resolve the best lenses. Or did it ? Wonder what the pixel equivalence of modern film (like the Ektar 100) is. Should try out the 70-200/TC14 combo on my F100.</p>
  6. <p>I've seen mentioned often here that the D7000 is demanding on lenses. I thought that would not apply to 70-200 2.8 VRII with TC14, which is considered a pretty good combo. So if one can see limitations with that combo, that means the D7000 is really demanding, and it has only 16mP. <br>

    As pixel counts increases with future cameras, should one invest in more primes than zooms, fearing that current crop of top zooms would not work well with some upcoming cameras. <br>

    Do we expect to see poor resolution, noise, blown highlights/blocked shadows, or what as results of this resolution mismatch? Can someone enlighten me, please?</p>

    I called Nikon USA just now and got the last one of the PB6 end caps. I have been looking for the end cap for a long long time. I actually tried to special order one a while ago but the request has gone nowhere. <br>

    It is really great to have this resolved.<br>

    I just checked. The MB-D11 did switch over like Shun said. It did that in the very last moment, possibly when the battery was close to zero %. Now I have more faith in Nikon and the Nikon batteries. It is interesting that this switch over feature was not mentioned anywhere in the manuals. (unless my old eyes missed it).<br>

    The difference between the MB-D200 and the MB-D11 is that the battery indicator was full when it switches over in the D200, but indicates close to nothing until it switches over in the D11.<br>

  9. <p>Thanks Shun for the quick reply. Didn't know the Nikon batteries are smarties. I use (always) original Nikon batteries. Right now I have one battery at 1% but there is still no switch over. I will find out when I get home tonight to see if it gets to 0% and switch. I left the camera on all night and it is still sitting at 1%, sign of a good battery, no?<br>

    My old MB-D200 for my D200 will automatically switch to the second battery when the first one is used up. This doesn't seem to happen with the MB-D11 for the D7000. It doesn't switch to the battery in the camera when the one in the grip is used up.<br>

    Am I missing something or do I have a faulty one? Any info greatly appreciated.<br>

    It is a nice machine that is a joy to use. It has gone down in value but for the user, this is irrelevant. I keep my 500cm with 3 lenses and 3 backs and use it often. I paid a lot then for a new 180 cfi and I will lose a big chunk if I sell it. But if I keep using it, it still worths a lot to me. I keep my darkroom too and as long as I can get the chemicals, I will keep developing my B&W film. I have my digital gear but those are for other times and situations. There are often times I just have to crank the film advance to feel good and smell the developer/fixer in the dark.</p>

    It is good to know. Just that I have never used 10 year old expired film so a bit concerned even it has been in the freezer. I shot a roll of fresh 400CN and it looks like having better contrast than my expired roll. But the base color is different so I have to scan/print to see. Nice shot you have there. F3HP and AIS zoom sounds good to me. Should take mine out and shoot some film with them. That film advance on the F3HP is just fun to crank.</p>

  13. <p>You've got a good point Frank. I have compared the 300mm/F4 collar with the 70-200mm/F2.8 collar on the Manfrotto, they seem equally stable/shaky. Yet no one is complaining about the 70-200 collar. I am not familiar with Arca Swiss. No local dealer has them. I think I will need a head plus a whole bunch of release plates to switch over. Big $$$ item but probably worth thinking about. Will look into this a bit more.<br>

    Where can one find a Burzynski collar?</p>
