From my recent trip to the SW

One of my all time favorites of yours Marc! This is the image of the year in my opinion. I bet it makes an unbelievable print. 7/7

This is an image I just reprocessed specifically for canvas. It's one of my
all time favorite images. It was taken in 2006 while snow camping in the
Mt. Hood wilderness. It was one of the most peaceful and memorable
moments of my life. It was -10 degrees and I had just weathered 3 days
of storms, but on this morning there was no wind and it was absolutely
silent.

This is awesome Steve! Definitely my kind of wildflower shot :)

This was taken while scouting with David Cobb for the Olympic National Park workshop we did a
few weeks ago. David organizes some of the best workshops anywhere, and it was a pleasure to
be his co-insturctor on this one.
This is four exposures blended together using my advanced photoshop blending techniques. I am
producing a video detailing these techniques in the next few months, I'll announce it here when It's
available for sale.

Love this one Chip! Gorgeous light and atmosphere as well as a dynamic FG.

This Oregon Coast icon, collapsed last week. Known as Keyhole Arch at
Cape Kiwanda, it was one of my favorite locations on the Oregon Coast.
This was taken just 2 weeks before the collapse.

Hey Mark. I know I was rated a 3 or 4 at least twice. My overall rating went from 6.70 to 6.55, and then after another low rating went to 6.45. It would have to be a 3 or 4 to knock it down that far with one rating.
-
I knew some low self esteem worm would come along and rate this a 3 to knock it down off the top just to raise their subpar image up the rankings. It never fails. Sigh, the photo.net virtual anonymous rating system strikes again. I really don't know why I bother with this site anymore.

I've had this shot in my head since I was a teenager. I used to camp near
here on the Oregon Coast. I was recently inspired to revisit this place, but
this time with a camera. This was taken last night in the freezing cold with
a nice storm swell. Besides some minor hypothermia it was epic.
Thanks for commenting

Thanks for the comments.
This was shot with the canon 17-40L

I find it interesting that as soon as this is the top rated photo for the month, someone rates it a 3. No reason is given of course, no critique, no comment at all. No one had rated it lower than a 6 until mister anonymous came along. Interesting...

One of your best, which is saying something.
Cheers

Pamela, this is actually all natural ambient light. The clouds lit up 360 degrees in all directions, and reflected the sunset onto the landscape including this tree.

Christal, yes this is the Palouse :)

Vertical version of one of my favs from this year. This is also one of the
framed prints in my upcoming art shows.

I will rate this a 7/7 as soon as the system will let me. It's sad that someone can create an alias and manipulate the system by giving out 4/4s, but I can't rate this amazing image a 7/7 because you rated one of my photos with a 7 :(

Another version of one of my favorites from this year. This will be featured
in my upcoming fine art exhibitions.

I wanted to respond to a couple of the recent comments on this image as it's my favorite of all time and most misunderstood as well. This is actually natural light, and nothing has been made up here, although I've accentuated it's natural attributes. The reflection is indeed the reflection and more importantly the light really was this fantastic. I realize very few people have ever seen light like this, so maybe most don't have a frame of reference. Anyway, there has been "zero" saturation added at all, although this is a blend of 3 exposures, blended by hand in photoshop to contain the dynamic range.
Just for reference this is a photo taken by Scott Lans who was a few hundred yards away shooting the same sunrise with film: http://www.naturephotographers.net/imagecritique/ic.cgi?a=vp&pr=146345&CGISESSID=92d6610063c9029df9d3b35823547c72&u=19214

A reworked file specifically for my upcoming print shows.

This is my favorite image from your recent travels. Easily in your top 5 images of all time IMO! Thanks for pushing your art to the next level and being a constant source of inspiration for me and many others! 7/7
