Nice image. It is so well balanced it is okay that the main column is dead centre. However, I wish it was not sitting right on the bottom edge of the image - a little too much tension. Well done!

I do not understand why photos like this are not selected for photo of the week! The weird and wonderful one offs are fascinating but this took thoughtful planning.

Excellent composition! Starburst effect may be too much and not sure why you are getting it. The colour shift from foreground to middle ground is also a bit odd, again I do not know why - fill flash, lightbulbs, paint?

The only other awkward thing I notice upon closer inspection is that the bottom right corner of the dark arch, created by the shadows in the background, is "sitting" right on the very edge of the bench which creates tension in the composition.

    Still very nice!

  1. Very nice. I tend to break the odd rule when I am in the wilderness and here I would have tried to remove that dead branch from the scene. Sorry, but at least it is already dead! Without it the shot would be perfect with the unbroken stream flowing through the foreground.

Very nice! I like the yellow/blue contrast top to bottom but I would love to have seen more of the yellow. Beautiful greens! The shadows and reflections may be introducing too many elements but the overall simplicity of the image helps the composition. Good eye!

Morey has some wonderful photographs in his portfolio, several of which would have been more approriate for photo of the week! I have seen better photos of this arch on this website!

Keep up the great work Morey!

    Clarinet

The position of the clarinet in the lower part of the frame creates a very cool surreal landscape. I know that a very good studio setup could produce this image. How much photoshop alteration went into this image? I will have to check out your other images. Thank-you.
  2. In my opinion this is the nicest of your 4 hummingbird photos. One has a flag as a disturbance. The one's with the bird on your finger are cute but not terribly attractive compositionally. Composition and coulour are nice in this one.

This is just my personal hang-up, but I do not generally rate or comment on photos that may have been digitally altered but I wanted to see your work after your posting to the nature forum.

    Keep up the good work!
