The b&W mountains don't work w/ the surreal subject and sky. Something bluish-grey would work nicely. I can tell you simply desaturated the mountains in photoshop, but in doing so, you've lost quality in the shadows. It looks a little noisy. I like how you tried to blend her w/ the motion of the clouds, but her overexposed legs contrast strangely with her heavily shadowed, silver-grey upper body.

perfect DOF. Very powerful meaning inherent in this photo. One could interpret this photo as two tank operators calling a truce, or just the opposite, planning an attack.
  1. what does that guy mean "bad" ?? you'll find that the people who give the worst ratings often do not even have an online portfolio and hence, lack any credibility in their comments... this is a incredibly creative, haunting photo. the mist effect is great, but I don't think the shadow & door reflections work for the picture. clone them out, and try working with cooler colors, or add more red.
  2. originality 4.7 ??? what are they thinking?? the way you've used the light is by far of the most original ways I've seen (it almost looks like a light painting the way you've highlighted the petals).

beautiful, sharpt photo. while the shadows could be reduced *slightly*, this photo definitely deserves a higher rating than it's been receiving. she has a coy expression on her face, and very penetrating eyes.

outstanding composition joe!!! incredible detail and texture. bold, deeply saturated color & contrast. The only improvement I would make is to clone out the part of the flower in the shadow.

interesting shot. try cropping the left off after the peoples' heads. or maybe just focusing on the right subject. I like the surreal effect courtesy of the slow shutter speed you used.

excellent framing, lighting & tonal range. I'm not sure what the rest of this wood looks like, but I bet you create some "wood nudes" out of it, give it's smooth, curvy shape.
  3. ditto jim's comments: the sky almost seems like you placed a piece of white printer paper behind the building. Try to take a cloud shot that further extends the photo's sense of perspective, and you'll have a great digital composition.

Daamn Jim! I'm definitely feelin' that! it's like you took a grieving person and opened a window into her mind in which you can see her neurons firing with all the profundity of her emotional experience. very, very emotive!
