to John:
please do not insult the work of other photographers. Your own photos speak of your profound lack of qualifications for making such harsh and unnecessary criticism.

you guys and your G2's, putting everyone, especially those w/ our fancy DSLRs, to shame......... ;o)
majestic photo!

I gave this photo a 4 on aesthetics b/c the glow around the edges really makes this look cluttered & messy. also, I'd lessen the photoshoping of the background. this photo would be awesome in a more simplified and sharper presentation. the reflections are beautiful, but the rest of the photo stands in stark contrast to the smooth, glassy reflections of the spheres.

seems a little soft. I've looked at your other work, & it's very good, but I can't seem to understand why you'd use such a poor lens on a D1x?? is it really not that bad?
-
nice subject & sweet smile. however, a higher shutter speed would've eliminated the distracting blur. also, definitely go for a tighter crop; my eye doesn't know what to do with the extra space. great photo for a candid shot.

AH! it's going to jump on me!!! (it's a jumping spider, right?) the green fangs are striking. I think a tighter crop or closer shot would be better. also, I'm bothered by the out of focus backside of the spider, otherwise this would be a great picture. maybe try and get more on the same level as the spider to really put the viewer into the spider's world.

you bought the sigma 28-300mm lens..... no offense, but you're limiting the capabilities of your camera by opting for that wannabe, do-all, consumer lens. you should buy a good nikon 70-200mm. unlike canon, nikon has a line of affordable, yet high quality lenses. I wonder if that's why the focus of this photo is soft. I initially thought the 28-300 was an awesome, do-all lens, until I talked w/ people who know their lenses & actually tried it out myself. for that lens to even come close to be functional enough for sharp photos, they'd have to create an image stabilizer (IS) version. the lenses is simply not fast enough for good action shots. if you're going to spend the $$ on the camera (I noticed you have an external flash unit & the extended battery pack), you should spend your $ on a better lens.
nice shot though, although you could bring out the contrast more in PS. keep shooting :)

the grass definitely opens up an interesting photoshop opportunity: it already has a strong sense of horizontal motion--try blurring it further to bring out the slide of the player.
-
you definitely needed to use fill-in flash here. awesome perspective, though. try selecting the rider/bike and brightening up the levels.
-
perfect toning. your sisters seem very endearing to each other. you must have a close family, either that, or everyone in your family is a model ;) just curious, what kind of lighting did you use in this photo? external flash?
-
oooh! not fair! please blow this one up HUGE! it definitely deserves it.

beautiful shot, only, I see a major problem in how her eyes belie her smile. She has a cynical look on her face.
-
beautiful! but a little too soft.
-
you should've used fill-in flash to compensate for the strong shadows caused by the overhead sun.
-
hardcore! you've definitely captured the aggression & power of this rider. I'm not sure why the photo has such low ratings, other than the obvious problem with overexposure--but you should be able to fix that in photoshop.
-
oh my god. I saw pictures on tv, but the moments of chaos you've captured here are ineffable. these photos belong in a history museum or photo memorial.
-
another original creation-great!
I wonder what you could come up with if you combined clear droplets with multicolored flowers.
-
ahh...excellent photo. "The essence of a pooch" ;)
who could resist such eyes. I want to give him a scooby snack.
-
wow!
I love the airy, ethereal quailty. --like she's wearing a shawl made of clouds.
-
incredidly original. very well executed: sharp, good lighting, pose contributes to sense of motion, beautiful expression on a beautiful model :)
-
ahh, almost had it!
I gave this photo a 4 b/c it's so close, but you definitely need to have the lead rider in focus.
