  1. Macrowork at its best!

Mark, I would also like to thank you for the excellent macro tutorial. It reminded me about a very efficient but often orverlooked use of an inverted lens together with a built-in zoom. It appears to work very well even with my A40.

    Nice colors!

If you would like to expand macro capabilities of your G2, I would suggest a snap-on macrolens. Even higher magnification and resolution can be acheived by using an inverting ring + a 50 mm fast (at least 1:2) lens. This way you can still use autofocus for fine focusing (the focusing range would be on the order of millimiters). I have used Pentax 50mm F1:1.4 together with Canon A40 and am very satisfied with the results (some photos are uploaded in my portfolio).

Photo.net features a great in-depth article about digital macrotechnique by Mark Plonsky.

  2. I appreciate all the comments, ratings, impressions, and suggestions.

Indeed, I often feel the need of localized unsharp effects but I use a fairly old version of Corel PhotoPaint (version 7) that does not have local unsharp masks. I know that PhotoPaint 8 has this feauture and it's probably time to upgrade my software.

Thanks for all the comments and ratings. My experiments with digitally altered images are often "hit or miss". The photonet feedback helps a lot.
