1. Once again, impressive composition - which isn't that easy with an above-the-lens viewfinder that doesn't have frame lines that move for parallax. There are two contemporaries to the Solinette - the Ikonta 35 and the Vito II. Neither of which have viewfinders that I can use while wearing my eye glasses. It's been my experience, that the Agfa cameras from 1954-56 have nice coated lenses that yield images with nice contrast.
 2. Been there, done that. Rather than waiting for a D7500 - a refurbished D500 body is about $1700 @ B&H photovideo. Moving up to the D500, will provide a functioning meter with an AI/AIS lens, once the lens data has been entered into the CSM.
 3. For decades I thought the Mootar was an urban myth and never put much faith in the story. Also, I was never told the story was authored by none other Herb Keppler. I appreciate the link to the 1952 article.
 4. Rick - that Apotar @f/5.6 doesn't look to shabby to me. I love the tonality. What film did you use?
 5. These days, my main use of a 6x6 folder is as second camera, because it packs well or if hiking where it is hilly and rocky, I'll just bring the folder. Kudos on the Isolette II. It's a well packaged little medium format shooter. By that I mean, the film winder and shutter release button are on the right side of the camera. The body isn't too small, which allows for good hand-held exposures. My current favorite is a Perkeo II that still has a working film counter and winder stop for each frame.
 6.
The May 55 articles were a good read. I found Varden to be out on a limb, especially on atomic batteries.

 7.
Memorial Day here Central Texas will be rained out.

 8.
Again, thanks for sharing this info.

On the Amateur Report - I enjoyed reading about the Rube Golberg set up to photograph hummingbirds nest . If Fred had a Rollei instead of Speed Graphic, he would have been able to use a rubber bulb release.

Also, a Kodak Retina II was pricey in 1950. It was $197.00 USD, which included federal excise tax.

 9.
My favorite is the one with the reflection off the window. I'm 62 and also wear a bicycle helmet on my way to work.

It's good that folks are rediscovering B&W film. For me the independent work-flow is a plus. My color lab occasionally scratches my film.

BTW - I sometimes will scan a color neg and set the output to 16 bit gray - which is a lot less hassle than printing to Kodak Panalure, an RC paper that has been long discontinued.

 11.
Kudos for carrying a 135mm lens guys - Says the one carrying only a 40mm/2.8 HFT Sonnar. -

 12.
I was at the 2015 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival three weeks ago.
I carried only my Rollei 35S loaded with 400TX (Both images below are cropped).

<a title="35S_JzFst15_AaronN by Andrew Yue, on Flickr" href=" src="https://c4.staticflickr.com/8/7795/17351479149_b0144aceb6_b.jpg" alt="35S_JzFst15_AaronN" width="900" height="584" />
Aaron and Charlie Neville

<a title="35S_JzFst15_BuddyGuy by Andrew Yue, on Flickr" href=" src="https://c4.staticflickr.com/8/7795/16917558643_3d70a1ee28_b.jpg" alt="35S_JzFst15_BuddyGuy" width="585" height="900" />
Buddy Guy

 13.
Liam - if someone quoted me 90€, plus shipping, for a shutter overhaul on a Bessa II - I'd go for it. It's an outstanding shooter, once everything is sorted.

I've used Winfred's method with a hypodermic needle on an old Compur Rapid shutter - but that shutter wasn't jammed like your Synchro Compur.

To add to his warning: the removal of the front fascia is as far as I will go on a Compur.

 17.
If it's 1955 and in the US, the camera could also be an Ansco Karamat.

An Ansco Karamat is essentially an AGFA Karat 36 - for the US market.

 18.
Is this a hint that I'll soon run out of space in my two drawers and need a third to store my cameras?

 19.
Excellent images - as usual. I agree with Mike, very skillful use of a large camera and all hand-held, I'll presume.

 21.
Mike congrats to your son.
This week, I'm posting two of my failures. Mainly to show that I suck at.................

<a title="CVB_Vaness_JumpR by Andrew Yue, on Flickr" href=" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8821/17129787750_c465ca52ba_o.jpg" alt="CVB_Vaness_JumpR" width="531" height="800" />

Thomson's Jumping Ring

 22.
I have no objection to Friday posts beginning in either Australia or New Zealand. We are after all is said and done living in the age of the world wide web. Just a rambling thought from here in Central Texas.

 23.
I've been out of town for few days, so this is a nice thread come back to.

I learned long ago to never underestimate the capabilities of a Retina.

The reflections in the "Been there, done that" trio really caught my eye with regards for composition. The snow scene reminds me of drinking that second cup of coffee before heading outdoors in the Winter.

 24.
You'll be missed JDM, at least by me. All the best to you until our paths and errands cross again.
