This is so good! How did I miss this one?... (Maybe because I haven't been around for months?...) Nice one Linda. Love the tones in this photo. It has a Pottery Barn look and feel to it (jeez, I wonder where my head is these days! ;-)

I'm a little bit curious about the f-stop you used - f1.8? Maybe it's just a typo, but if not why did you use such a wide aperture for a landscape shot? I don't mean to harp on details but it caught my attention.

Other than that, I think this is a lovely photo. I think the boat's elliptical trajectory gives the image a sense of momentum and life. The Montenegro coastline is really gorgeous I must say. I hope I'll have the opportunity to see it someday. Nice work!

I like this very much. I disagree about the cropping - I think the rocks on each side add depth and perspective. I do agree though that more contrast (esp. more detail in the sky) would've made the image more "ideal" technically and visually - but I still like it. It's very well framed (in the viewfinder, I mean :)

Predrag - This photo, like many of your landscapes shares a common pattern which I've noticed. You like to center your main subject in almost all of your photos! :-) While this is not my favorite in terms of composition, it is nonetheless a subjective thing and should not detract from your personal style. With that said, I like the photograph.. especially the fine contrast and texture of the rock which you've captured well. I might experiment with different light conditions to see how the light plays with the texture of the rock. Perhaps a late afternoon sun might create some interesting shadows? I don't know the location so perhaps that's not an option - just a thought.

I like the contrast between young and old.. but also how everybody is in a different position. That, combined with the fact that the seat is semi-circular contributes to the visual interest. It does look like a snapshot, but it's an interesting and well-composed one! Perhaps if you zoomed in a little closer and eliminated some of the background clutter, it might be more effective. You could also crop that guy out from the far left and a bit off the top. Just a thought..

Boyz in the Hood? :) This is really good, Linda. The skin color is perfect (no magenta cast!!) and the lighting is great. I like the fact that his cap is slightly highlighted, the shadow softly fading on his face - we can even see the peach fuzz on his upper lip. And that expression - says it all. Nice job!

Thanks for the invitation Predrag - this is really very nice - I love it. Personally, I prefer when the subject is a bit off-center, because it makes it a little more interesting - but it really depends on the image. I like the water reflection inside the boats.. nice work!

This is really gorgeous, Predrag. One of your best (that I've seen anyway). The colors are stunningly rich and beautiful and the 2 trees create wonderful perspective in what could've been a more 2-dimensional image. This is the sort of image I want to stare at to bring me back to a peaceful state of mind. Bravo!! :-)

P.S. Thank you for the invitation to view.

Beautiful lines in the body, has a very tribal look to it except that the pose is a bit too elegant for it to be really tribal, but works for me anyway :)

I like this a lot actually.. it has a dark, gothic feel to it (for me, anyway).. probably because of the candle sconces (of course, it would've been more authentic had they been real candles..but you can't have everything unless you cheat with PS :) Very unusual piano I must say, I've never seen one with sconces attached to it before. Is it real? The hands don't look like they're playing because they lack the "arch" normally associated with playing.. so that grabs my attention a little in an uncomfortable way. Details aside, I have to say what appeals to me the most is the mood of this photo. If it weren't for the piano keys, I'd almost be hearing an organ in my mind creating that creepy, gothic, horror-movie like feel all around. (Maybe I just have an overactive imagination? ;-)

Piotr.. I don't know why but when I saw this, he reminded me of an elf! He's a bit tall I know, but an elf nonetheless (he looks a little bored -though, maybe this year's toys weren't so fun to build? :) From a technical point, the only nit I'd have is that the background of the image is a bit "busy" (for my eye only).

Alberto.. it's amazing to see how Arcos looked 30 years ago! And here I thought what I saw was still very old and untouched. Perspective makes all the difference, doesn't it? I really like this photo, it's perfect. I wish I could've seen it then.. I have one more photo of Arcos, have you seen it? Here's the link: Arcos What a difference 30 years make!!

I can't tell you how much I loved Arcos! It took us a while to find it..lol... but once we did, it was amazing. I would definitely go back there - it's truly a photographer's paradise (even the "modern" version!) Btw, I left a comment on "Arriero Andaluz"...

Henri, it would appear the men prefer this one and the women prefer the faerie version! That's OK - we all have our preferences :) Thanks for stopping by!
  1. Karen, thanks for your kind comment. Someone else who saw this photo said it would be the perfect image for a children's book. I need to see what it looks like as a large print, probably a lot better than the compressed JPG version! :) As for faeries, I think they are nature creatures... but they may prefer staying dry!
