or another bird? I'm not sure with the branch positioned there.
Lovely vibrant colors and the closeup gives a sense of the Macaw's personality. Nice job.

Um, all I meant was I am trying to discover what I am best at....

I admire you for trying such a tough job -- when I read about what was necessary to take fireworks shots, I was amazed.
Ideally, I would have enjoyed this better had you been able to get the burst as it bloomed: I get the feeling this was seconds before a magnificent burst of color and light. I'm not sure what to suggest otherwise, but keep experimenting -- I've a feeling you're very close to exciting fireworks shots, consistently.

Nicely framed!

I like how everything is pointing heavenward.

Very vibrant and pretty.

Looks very dreamy.

In what way?

Rodney, I like it. The deep velvety red is very dramatic and its position in the upper left corner make it very dynamic. :-)

Just curious -- why 2/2? :) Maybe your input could help me take a stronger shot next time.

It is in Coney Island, in Brooklyn, NY, right on the boardwalk. :-) Next to Keyspan Stadium, home of the Met's farm team, the Cyclones, for you baseball fans. I took the shot at sunset from inside the stadium.
When it was in working order, there were two-seat benches attached by two cables that ringed the ride. You would be drawn up to the top and dropped into freefall -- and a parachute would come out of the bench to slow the descent. I never got to ride on it before it was closed BUT it is currently being renovated, so who knows? :)

Here's an article on it.... and it's already back up.

I'm not trying to be a smart aleck. What do you mean? Also, I do not rate myself as I don't think that is an honest practice... whatever I think of the photo will be colored by the fact that I took it. I prefer to let the comments of many others tell me whether it is as good as I think.
This photo, in my estimation, is very good FOR ME. There certainly are worse in my portfolio and I don't think there is much better yet. Is that an honest enough evaluation or am I a lost cause?

It may not be pre-RAPHAELITE art, but other folks seem to think it was a fair job. ;)

Hey I love this -- oh, wait.... ;)
Guess the Rate Random Photos IS random.

Much too small to see

Yes, it is.

Thanks, Carl, your suggestions on this and other shots have been very helpful to me. I think I've learned more from your comments today than I have for quite a while. :-)

Unfortunately, as too many fools have tried to climb the Arch and get inside it, there is a cyclone fence around the perimeter (as you may see when you enlarge it). Otherwise, I'd have gone under and shot up to get the detail inside. Thanks for the suggestions, though; I'll try to use it to frame either shooting north or south next time. :)

Dim and not very exciting.

nice juxtaposition of rotting manmade structure and nature.

Interesting shot -- makes me feel very off balance, as if in one of those amusement park attractions where the floor is slanted one way but visually, it appears to be going the other way. The interior is tilted left while the cutout is tilted very obviously right.

I like the old-time feel of the sepia tones, but think that the fountains, especially the larger geyser-like spray, detract from the Victorian-feel charm of the gazebo.

This reminds me very much of the bridge Monet often painted in his garden. I might crop the bottom a little to get rid of the large, unfocused leaves esp. to the bottom left.
