Crop it from the waist up. Still focus is lacking, but her expression makes up for it

Love the look on her face ... but FOCUS

What can I say
-
Focus !!!!
-
focus, red eye, etc
-
focus, focus,focus, composition, focus

The class that is the subject of this photo appears to be more interesting than the photo itself. At least get an inexpensive package to remove th red eye.

Composition, lighting and overall format

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone for taking the time to view and comment on my pictures; this one in particular.
I have added a folder called 'Justification' which has a second, wider angle shot I took of the church. In the comments to that shot I provide a bit more info on the technical details. There isn't much more to add from a technical standpoint unfortunately. It was after all, 16 years ago and I did not write down shutter speeds or aperature.
There has been a period of nearly 10 years in which I did not actively pursue photography as either a hobby or avocation. These days most of my pictures are of my kids' soccer and cheerleading competitions. My discovery of photo.net and the contributions and participation of its members have revitalized my interest. Thanks to all !

This is a good example of the lighting that morning. In the slide the light is more dramatic. This photo doesn't do it justice, but the sight was breathtaking in person.

This is another photo I took of the same church. The picture was taken using a Canon A1 and Kokachrome slide film. I didn't keep notes as I shot, but I'd guess I was using the 28-80 zoom rather than the 80-200.
The image is interesting to me because the church is in shadow, while the mountains are bathed in a golden light from the rising sun.
I'm sure there are some who will doubt this, but I was actually disappointed with the quality of the scan from slide to CD. The 10 slides I had scanned were washed out, losing detail in the process.
In the slide of this image, the light on the mountains is more dramatic. The scan was done by Ritz Camera - I'll either get them to retry the scans or look for a custom lab.
Also in this folder is a photo that is an example of the lighting that morning. You can see two things there - 1) how the light was coming through the gaps in the mountains and 2) how badly washed out the image is.
Oh yes, as for other details ... I can't remember the name of the church nor the town it was in (hey, it was 16 years ago). But I remember distinctly that we were on our way to Garmisch-Partenkirchen and I slammed on the brakes of the rented Fiat (red) when I saw the church and the light on the mountains.
Many of the photos I took way back then were lost over the years; I was happy to discover these slides again.

A bit too blurry

This is the actual photo taken - the group was walking and I was focusing on the fly. I agree about the balance; I considered cropping out the guy on the left, but it just didn't work out well.
-
The background is too distracting ... quite nice otherwise
-
Nice shot overall. The pose is a bit forced ... took me a while to figure out that she's holding a book or menu.
-
Absolutely wonderful ! It would be great to have an "Old Girls" shot to accompany it. As usual, great work.
-
If only she had looked at the camera
-
Stunning !!
-
The lighting is weak ... or if it is fog, I don't see the relevance
-
Great decision to choose this perspective
-
Focus, focus, focus
-
Lighting is weak and colors washed out
-
The railing in the foreground completely sabotages the shot
