They are horrible. Utterly unusable for any purpose whatsoever. Collect all that you can just to get them off the market so no one else is tempted, and send them to me. :)

I bought a demo version from Cameta last year and shoot with it all the time, mostly for my local neighborhood newspaper (I am their entire photo department).
It does have the banding issue at high ISOs, but I try to avoid those (although I did sell an 8x12" print shot at ISO 1600!). The body is great, the pictures are great (it's coupled most often with a 17-55). The batteries are weak, so I have three. It's a tough bugger; got it soaked in the rain yesterday, and it was nice not to have to worry about that.
Although it doesn't do i-TTL flash, and I don't even have a D-TTL flash, I don't really miss it. My technique is to shoot at aperture priority with the flash manually set to 1/8th or 1/4th power, and that works very well except in really low light levels. Then I shoot just automatic flash, bouncing it off a Lumiquest bounce thingy.

I got around that problem by buying double-sided paper. ... another alert reader has clued me in on how to change the printer's color space, which may be the problem. I suspect the printer is set to aRGB and I want to print an sRGB file.
I still don't like the HP software, but it appears that I may be the defective on in this case. But don't get me started on the uneven borders that are hardwired into the printer.

Due to a pressing deadline, I'm trying to print some 8x10s on my HP all-in-one
2210xi.
The web is full of great reviews of this printer's color, but I can't get a
decent print out of it. The color always seems washed out. I am printing small
versions of prints that I sent to Mpix and had printed 20x30 and they look great
and match what I see on the monitor, but the HP prints (even with the six-color
option) look too light and the colors are dull.
My question is, can I override the damn HP driver and let Photoshop handle the
colors? I can set that in Photoshop CS2 but the crappy HP software doesn't seem
to have a place for me to do that. I'm using a Mac and OS X 10.3.9, by the way.
The printer is good for business stuff but for me it sucks as a photo printer,
despite the glowing reviews.
Thanks!

I use 1 GB CF cards in my D1 with no problem. Haven't tried any larger than that.

Hi, Bill. I use mine frequently, too. It is fun to use, and easy to get into the capping-and-uncapping rhythm ...

Josiah, it's easy to use once you get the rhythm of it. Scale focusing is easy enough and the
little gunsight is pretty accurate.

I've had both the N8008s and the N70. They're both very good cameras, but the one I still have (although I haven't touched it in nearly a year) is the N70. It's just a lot quieter than the N8008s and will do nearly everything the N8008s will do, and is lighter, so I kept it. However, the built-in flash on mine has pooped out.

Thanks!

So, I used an electronic flash with my 0-Series. We don't need no
stinkin' flash sync! To paraphrase Samuel Johnson: "Sir, using a
flash with an 0-Series Leica is like a dog's walking on his hind
legs. It is not done well; but you are surprised to find it done at
all."

My caption was supposed to say this was not shot with a Leica, but I was within three feet of a Leica M7 at the time it was taken.

Waiting for a bus. Is that Alfred Hitchcock?

I bought something similar from Adorama a year or so ago for my 0-Series. Works
fine, and was only about $5 or $6. Just do a search on their web site for straps and
something should turn up. It was a no-name brand, but is pretty solid.

Forgive me if this gets posted twice: It hasn't appeared in the list
of topics as far as I can see.
