    Landscape Arch

          6
Hey Bobby, I was just there around the first of the month. I didn't take the camera but I did consider how it might be done. This is a great solution to the composition problem. Separating the arch from the background is tough at this arch. Great work. I have a new panorama from Arches shot on May 1 up now. You make me want to go back and try this in the spring snow season. It's only six hours from our place and we now have friends living in Moab so I may do that.
  1. You're right. I have logged in but not contributed much until now.

I didn't get a full-frame camera. I borrowed a couple from Canon. In spring, 2007, I borrowed a 1Ds Mark II and this spring, I borrowed a 5D. The 1Ds Mark II had a problem in that the images were noisy and banded. The 5D was fine but I didn't use it too much. I think I will look at the replacement for the 5D this fall as I hear it will be nice.

Hope all is well with you and yours.

    Deep Into Fall

Hi Regina: I haven't posted for a while as I have been flitting from web site to web site trying them all on for size. So far, none fit too well. The fox was actually just posted not too long ago. I just posted a Mule Deer Fawn as well. Truthfully, I am using Photo.net as a staging area for another site.

This is a gorgeous image and even though you felt rushed you managed to do it right as usual. The colors are magnificent and the composition is up to your high standards.

Hope all are well and I too miss the Rowell Circle. It was fun!

  2. Hi Regina: Thanks, the hummingbird season doesn't start until July usually although we have a couple now.

Mike: This was one of several birds hanging about in the park. I was as surprised as anyone to see them there as I had never seen them in our area back home in Colorado.

Kenneth: Just a whit oversharpened but a very nice image nonetheless. I was born in OK but haven't been back since 1969. I don't miss the summer thunderstorms at all.

And what has been added. Nice historical image. The paving and the wall on the right seem much more modern in this view. It's nice you had some time to wander a bit in this wonderful city.

It's very difficult to obtain depth of field this shallow from digital cameras with smaller sensors. All is right with this image. Bravo, wonderful composition, colors and subject.

Anyone giving this image a "4" is lost in space.

  3. Oh, I don't know. Perhaps at 10 or 12 frames per second we all would be able to expertly make such captures. I know I would (wink, wink)! In the meantime, you've done it without all that unnecessarily added apparatus and it looks great!

And the best of a Happy New Year to you and the family!

  4. This photo shows how low the lake was in June, 2002. Now the lake is nearly full again and we hope it remains so. The snowfall so far this winter is not too bad though far from enough.

Thank you for your kind comments. I do enjoy photographing birds very much.
