If the bird was not facing right, I would have composed it with the bird slightly more towards the right. But this is perfect as is.

I love the details, but ... am never too fond of black backgrounds. That's just me. Cool shot still.

If you shot it from a slightly lower angle it would look even better IMHO

Sorry but there are a few things seriously wrong with this picture:

-- Composition is not the best, as Lieven said -- you might have tried a vertical,

-- The lighting is harsh

-- The out of focush highlights in the background are harsh.

I like the theme and the morning/afternoon lighting. However -- there's something wrong with the composition. When I look at it -- my eyes won't sit still. Perhaps try a narrower crop on the benches?
