1. Found a great Valoy enlarger, but I need to know if it is possible to use a new

Focotar or Focotar II lens on it? Are they all interchangable, or are there

certain lenses for certain models. I know that a Focotar will mount (as the

thread mount has been unchanged for years), but I don't know if it will work

    properly.

    Thnaks much,

  2. I have found a Leitz Valoy enlarger for a fair price, but am wondering if I will

regret not buying a Valoy II. Does anyone know the differences? Are they

important? I have seen pictures of both, and they appear to be very similiar.

Any reasons other than autofocus, filters, and medium format to choose a

    Focomat over a Valoy?

    Thanks much,

  3. When the shutter is not tensioned, and I turn the shutter speed dial

between the flash zig-zag arrow and 1/30, it seems to catch. It will

move, but it is not as smooth as moving between the other speeds -

like the notches are not quite right. Thing is, when the shutter is

tensioned (cocked) it is nice and smooth.

I spoke with the person that I bought it from and they noticed it on

their M4 and M6 as well - anyone else notice it? Any idea what it is?

It doesn't affect the operation of the camera, but I am curious if

this is normal or not, and what causes it.

It is an M6 classic that just had a CLA from Sherry Krauter.

    Thanks in advance,

  4. Has anyone had any luck on ebay with "thambar" from Italy or

    "hermanp" from the Netherlands?

Just curious about your experience as they seem to sell lots of Lieca

    equipment.

Are there any others to look for/watch out for?

    Thanks,

  5. I have heard that the meter on an M6 ttl is more sensitive (can

meter with less light) than an M6 classic, but is it more accurate

    than an M6 classic?

In other words, will the M6 ttl give me a better reading in adverse

light conditions, or just allow me to meter lower light?

Are there any other meter differences between the M6 classic

and M6 ttl? Does one meter a smaller area (spot) - assuming

the same lens? I know that the M6 ttl has a dot between the

arrows that tells you when correct exposure is achieved.

    Thanks in advance!

  6. Thanks for the site.

I would like something with a little more detail on the M2, mainly

regarding the serial numbers where changes took place. Would

also be nice to have this info in the M3. Any good books on the

    subject?

    Thanks again,

  7. Nice shots. Was the 90mm shot at f2 or stopped down? Did

you make any shots up close with the 90mm? Just curious

about the accuracy of the RF.

What is your overall impression of the camera so far? Is it much

louder than an M? Build quality?

I am very seriously considering one.

    Thanks,

  8. I have heard that changes were made to the rangefinder on the

M2 roughly half way through production. Can anyone tell me

what changes were made and the serial number of the change?

Was the change anything more than the addition of the DoF

    "tabs"?

    Thanks in advance,

  9. Just wondering which of the 35 Summicrons is the most compact - ie. protrudes least from the body? Is the ASPH much bigger than previous models? I want as compact an M as possible!

Anywhere online that I can find this info for future reference would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

  10. Hello:

I am currently in the market for either an M2 or M3 SS (user). I

have read that the rangefinder on the M3 is more complex, but I

have not been able to determine exactly what this means. Is this

a good thing or bad? Will it cost more to be repaired if

something does go wrong? As far as I can tell all M's after the

M2 inherited it's simpler RF mechanism - but was this for cost

cutting or because it is more reliable?

Also, which would be best for the lovely 50 Summicron. Are the

framelines difficult to see because of the higher magnification

on the M3? Any issues shooting a new lens on the older body?

    Thanks much in advance!

  11. What have peoples experiences been with grey market Leica

equipment? I am a student that is in the market for a user M2,

but would like to put a new lens on it - hopefully the 35

    Summicron.

I have noticed that I can save quite a bit by buying from Delta

International and others, but is there a quality difference? The

warranty doesn't seem to concern me so much with lenses -

    should it?

If anyone has links to previous posts regarding this topic they

    would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

  12. I would like to buy a CL to use with the current Summicron 50. Is there any problem using this lens and body combination? Anything to watch out for when buting a CL? What about the CLE?

I looked at a CL in my local dealer recently and noticed a problem, the rangefinder patch was very dim - very hard to focus! I also notices that the camera had a fairly good dent on the upper right side which could be the cause. Any experiences with dim rangefinder patches on CL's?

    Thanks very much in advance,

  13. I was looking at a T3 at my local dealer this weekend, and I noticed a

small red light being emitted from the front of the camera. I assume

this is for the focus. My question is whether or not this is seen by

the subject of the shot. If so it might be very distracting, and

    prevent truly candid photography.

Also, any comments on accuracy of focus in general and low light

    situations would be appreciated. Thanks!
