I think the M7 is a great camera for us M fans and keep the M6 as a
backup. Total electronic cameras are fully here and only getting
better. I enjoy my nikon D1 immensly and look forward to the D2. The
M will always be a classic and in situations where the ae function
improves my images I'll choose the 7. Leicas simply giving us
choices. I'm nieve enough to believe the 6 will be here for a long
time.

I've appreciated the AE function of the M7 in fast paced situations
with much contrast. That said I must say the total
mechanical "function" of the M6 is a real security point when I'm far
from my battery supply. I too will use a light meter(one single AA-
easily obtainable around the world in small towns), but the ability
to estimate the light if caught without power and have your camera
respond is priceless and has in a few cased made the shoot.... I do
feel the M7 is a great Leica but know which one I would pick if I
could only have one....

I'm a nikon D-1 owner, F-100, and a couple of old F4s. Also have 2
old leicas.. Guess which one I grab when I want one around my neck
for a day of spontaneous shooting.. the M6.. Hang in there buddy my
wife enjoys the results and is thrilled I gave up my dreams of a
Harley!

A few years ago I had the opportunity to use a pair of leica
binoculars and had to get a pair.. They far surpass any other make..
also for what it's worth, I do ear surgery and have tried the new
Leica operating microscope which I prefer over the Zeiss which is the
current historical standard. GREAT OPTICS AND YOU CAN SEE THE
DIFFERENCE.

I use and appreciate both don't limit your vision.. Have potraits
that are beautiful with and others without color.. appreciate the
light try to work with the vision it gives you.. don't like to sound
so zen-like but that's what it is!!!

I don't think I've quite decided how it's really helped me, although
I know I got a great shot on auto that was quick and had I used the
m6 the neg wouldn't be as good..I would have adjusted development or
printing or played in the digital darkroom. The camera is wonderful
but so is the m6, m3 etc. I wouldn't break the bank to get one but
now would not be without it. The ability to hold the exposure I find
quicker than changing the f stop.

I've bought grey market and overseas southeast asia sold leicas and
lenses.... have had nooooo problem...

The chromogenic kodak film especially the portra 400 b+w scans
beautifully and you can use digital ice on the Nikon scanners which
by the way is the best software cleaning tool. try it!

I was at Glazers last weekend in Seattle and told VERY well over the
last few weeks and hardly any m6's sold. By the way anyone want to
part with an old-out-dated M6.58ttl.

I've used both the m6ttl and m7 and have felt the auto has actually
captured an image I wouldn't have had with the m6. This probably
could be my weakness rather than the cameras but the result was
marvelous. I'll continue to use both cameras. I appreciate this
discusson.
