John, Thanks for your information. I'm always impressed with the knowledge on this board!!! We all realize that much of "new" development rests on the shoulders of others. ( I'm reaching that age myself where I hope I've provided a shoulder!)
-
John, the steer does move though your vision but it's important to note that it does NOT block more of your focusing or visual field than the lens barrel itself. In that way I truly never notice it and believe Lutz designed it well. We're truly all individuals in our vision however.

Thoughts: I've had mine for a month now and am sold. You have to use the lens wide open as much as possible to really appreciate the "look" . When we talk to others or focus on a person or subject all other light is in peripheral vision and really out of focus. The nocti gives us the "natural way of seeing". A f2 and above it has a soft look but one that I appreciate and don't feel cheated not having my summicron on the camera. I don't use it as a standard lens but find myself using it more than I would have thought and believe its not just a novelty. The weight is not an issue to me, having lugged around f4s and nikons for years. What a great system, to have even the choice to have this lens. Give it time .. ALSO GET THE STEER FROM LUTZ!!! It will make it a different lens and really improve the ability to focus quick.

Marc, Zion and Bryce are great objectives, The north rim of the Grand CAnyon is also worth it, it's more remote and beautiful. Have a good time street shooting, I've seen your work here and I'm sure you'll be inventive and produce a great image (s) .

I have the "old" Nikon D1 and just dropped off film from my M6. While waiting in the bookstore, read that Kodak just introduced the DCS pro 14m SLR camera;13.7 megPIXELS !!! With my old D1 I enjoy fast feedback and good images up to 5 by 7. Now I'd be lucky to get 20% of what I paid for it and expect the current D1x to also hit the skids of price soon. I do however think that we have well entered the new age of digital capture for photography.. I see this in little league games where parents now for the most part have digital cameras and see all the local paper photographers with their digital slrs. I feel great carrying the little Leica under my coat instead of the massive digital slrs but see good quality small digital cameras (Canon G2 etc) giving great images. In the "near" future my purchases will be digital but I feel fortunate to have the best of both worlds. I love the advantage of a totally mechanical camera, with quality still unsurpassed by the other systems and I still plan on augmenting my Leica gear!

the s-fill and steer are great, haven't used the shade yet but will put it on this weekend. The ssteer makes a new lens out of the noctilux!! He's a talent!

leppphoto.com has rated many scanners and the bottom line is that the Nikon scanners esp. the 4000 model has the edge refer to the site, I've found it very helpful!

One of the great things about this site is the help!! Use the hyperfocal distance and it will be faster than any autofocus! I'll often work a crowd with the lens set and fire away knowing that everything between 4 and 12 feet is is focus or close. Rangefinders! love 'em!

Pat, there is a photo museum that is worth checking out neat the canal and the old hotel I believe the one mentioned above. A canadian photographer ? Larry trowell was featured there a while ago. Leica user!!! Enjoy the city, the market area is fun and the walk along the river. 'Gary

Congratulations!!! I've had many occasions to shoot babies and have come to the conclusion that tc400 is my favorite although I've used portria bw also .. I's quick to develop and both scan well.. send e-mail and print beautifully on my epson 1270. I focus critically on the baby's face, nose or eyes in the first few days and use the 50,35 f2 usually I have a noctilux but it's noe my preferred lens for this.. have a great time.. Gary include your wife and have others grab a shot of you three!

to display my total ignorance and basic computer illiteracy, I've
just spent 25 minutes trying to figure how to post a picture in this
forum and have not found the well conceled secret. Could one of you
please sent me to the directions or source. I have a negative
scanner and will try to finally present something!! Thanks (the
simpler it's explained the better, believe me! ) :.)

If she's yours you're a proud father she's a delight! There are things I could think of to improve... the centering, contrast or head rotation. However When I captured an image of my children It was often quick, unplaned and lucky, especially if I didn't have autofocus and autoexposure. In short I think the image works for me and I would just enjoy it!!!

I hope for the good of the company they congratulate you on your use of the camera. Let them use their funds and time to continue to develop and survive. Besides the more used it looks the more I respect the photographer! I could say more but I want to be kind.

Jeremy I like the image very much. Having literally thousands of family pictures, I've found that the ones I'm continually drawn to have a little mystery about them and I rather like the "dark" look and the glint of light off her forehead. The image is very nice placed in the light background and surrounding darkness, a metaphor for motherhood.

photography, philosophy, politics. Came home to an interesting thread. It's late and I'm tired, but had to respond. As a product of a poor past, I know what its like to fight for survival. You fight or be beaten bloody. I've volunteered in overseas medical missions, held starving children in my arms and had them die. I've held and tried to comfort their dying parents. There is honor and beauty in people in all circumstances except when there is hate and callousness and desire to harm.. I work beside pacifists, we work together in these camps. I support force, however, to stop individuals who would do others and myself harm because I have experienced evil. I believe it needs "active" resistance. So we differ in philosophy. In my talks my images show victims, but courageous and struggling people. Hopefully to cause our hearts to turn to action to help. We share that desire, the hope to care for each other.

Now you're a true member, the pause after purchase gets you in, the images will keep you coming back for more!!! and more!!! and more!!!

I'm looking for a black recent 50mm f/1.4 please contact me off forum
if you have one for sale. Thanks

I grab it 90% more than my M6 now. The meter is dead on and it frees my mind in quick situations. The slr I use is nikons F100. I believe the meter is just as accurate I can no longer see the difference in its multisegment metering and feel the Leica is more "controlable" in that its so fast to hold exposure of certain parts of the image.

Great service!! bought a M7 and noooooo problems!! returned calls promptly and personable

I've used Royal Gold 100 and 200 with great results, I'd have no reservations about using it. It also scans well.
75 or 90 a break from noctilust
in Leica and Rangefinders

I have a chance for an excellent 90aa lens from a friend and will
probably spring for it! Any fruther thoughts on 75 vs 90 if cost
wasn't a consideration. Most of my photos are
people, family, protraits, weddings, and plays. Any of you own both?
Thanks.
