I have both Canon and Leica and will vote for Leica. Just last year switched from Nikon. I've been a bit of a lens junkie!. Will admit often it doesn't make a difference depending on the image, BUT Leica wins the 50,90,28mm division hands down.!!!!

This is what life gives us if we let it. A chance to be involved and love others and in turn enrich ourselves. Thanks Andrew for a wonderful story.

My son (Michael Brown) just won College Photographer of the Year.
check out the site at http://www.cpoy.org/58/winningimages.html. The
reason I'm posting it here is that quite often throughout the years I
would send him threads from this site as well as images. Despite
being surrounded and occasionally using digital; the photo
storys "Goodnite Athens" and "The Fight" were shot with his Leica
M6. All of you can feel that you've played a role in his vision. I
started routinely reading this site in 2000 and my first camera to
him was a used Leica. Thanks to all of you, Share my pride!!

Patrick, good thread!!! I still have your old M6 and also a 1D and 10D canon. Needless to say I still love to use both systems. I'm now off to shoot a play which is a joy with digital. Last summer I went cqmping for a week with my trusty M6 50 chron. I guess I just like image making and being able to switch as I need or feel is a real sense of freedom. Keep writing your thoughts.. I have not been a frequent contributer but used to follow your posts and appreciate your ideas and comments. I too have been using digital 90% of the time. I shoot mainly theater and sports as a hobby and donation of time, finding it greatly enjoyable. I have held off selling my Leicas for all of the reasons above. I think the luxury of feeling a great mechanical body is fun. I've also appreciated the quality and solid shooting of the Canon 1D and so live in two worlds. Being the victum of age and at times poor vision and also the habit like a kid of enjoying instant gratification, digital is often the camera I grab. HOWEVER at times, I love to slow down, think and take my time, accept the hassle of developing and play with my craft, shoot tri-x or b and w c-41 and wait.
I feel that it's a real treasure that many of us who love photography are able to explore multiple paths to that final image.

her eye position compliments the lonly rider. Good image!

Jake I thought your missive was well put! I've really enjoyed the threads on this forum and split my time 90/10 between digital and film. I really like the luxury of the Leica camera feel and size but do most of my hobby and business photography digitally and have for some time. I do much theater work and sports imagery and you can't I repeat CANT beat digital capture. I also can print an image that can give Leica a run for it's money. Compare a Noctilux f1 shot with a Canon 85mm f1.2 on a 10D, 1Ds I appreciate your experience having found it months ago.

enjoy them your whole life. Love the look in your sons eyes. I always tried to get my children interested in the same thing; a toy, an activity, or at times even my camera! At any rate I've yet to see a real poor image of them, it's our subjective view as parents and it's our right!

Thanks for your comments. Yes my son who is 25 took this shot. We have been fortunste to share photography together. The jet "exhaust also doesn't bother me. Color and light is the focus. There is so many blends of vision that I consider beautiful. The house and barn are also "man-made" yet they contribute to the image just as the man-made jet trail. It, as mentioned above is appreciated as part of the whole. We impact the earth as it impacts us.

That's great! Although We thought it was Northworstl.

I forgot to mention, my son and I took an early drive with our cameras and I stopped the car in front of an old barn. We both happened to look behind us and found the best scene (the sun beginning to show through the fog) This is his image !!
