  1. John Amiet's answer is great and I agree!!!. In spite of being accuse d of heresy I will say I now do all my stage work in digital (Canon D1 and 10D with amazing results and speed) This is one area where I really appreciate seeing my image and adjusting accordingly with Kalvin adjustment or speed. Have a great time, photographing theater is one of my real turn-ons!!!
  2. Sorry! I'm ecxcited! It worked! now to perfect it. the image appears

a little darker than it should although it was early, early AM. Great

to pack a camera thats light, "simple", and wait for him to almost

run me down, until I waved him to the gate!

  3. My prayers and thoughts are with you Mark. I've held dying children in my arms and it is the sadest thing in the world. Every photo of mine is a treasure. Don't ever hesitate to take a camera, its a statement that you have reverence for things passing as we all are and stand in awe of that. It's been strange for me that in reflecting on the trajedies of life that I often appreciate the beauties more. Gary
  4. Congratulations for another finely captured moment. I've also found the best images are the quick shots of people doing the unposed but "important" things. The lighting is great, particularly of her hair under her chin. I've used a noctilux which has given shots I believe impossible with other equipment. Again, the quality, the feel of this equipment combined with light passed through those lenses is a joy to behold. If I can ever figure out how to post I'll fire some in. I was linked earlier to an explanation but could'nt figure it out. Being in the "boonies" and of limited tech savy fouls me every time! Again congrats.
  5. notes from an onlooker!!! I still find this one of the best forums for diverse interest! I still have my leicas and love to press the shutter on ANY camera. The leica will never be replaced I love the simplicty and mechanical "feel". Although using digital mostly, I really enjoy the patience of film
  6. I will also miss your commentary here but will follow on the canon "digital" forum. I have the first generation Nikon D1 but still find it great for many uses. I love my Leicas but there are so many advantages to digital I find I'm following the other forums more so than this one. Thanks for the past input! Gary
  7. John: I'm not the expert in this digital stuff but have depended on others. My son taught me a few things and as long as I follow a certain sequence in photoshop I get what I need. I've been quite simply amazed at the quality and the color and before this had to tolerate images that were not quite as correct as I can get digitally. My advice would be to have someone who is very expert on using the camera and converting the image show you for comparison. With the new digital at 6 meg-pixals it's quite surprising what you'll find. I love my leicas yet It's not what I would choose if I had to get a quality shot processed quickly with very little hassel. I've been a stock trader and a physician and have found that both professions require flexibility of mind. you use what you need to get the job done. Get someone good to show you, and see for yourself and make up your own mind.
  8. Thankyou Jack for an interesting article.. This weekend I shot a local musical with my "old" Nikon D-1. The next day printed 38 pictures on my Epson 1270 adjusting for light in adjustment layers and being aware of the calvin settings (incandescent and florescent) at the time of digital capture. The images at 5-7 were excellent, much to the enjoyment of everyone. And now are in front of the theatre. The ability to completely control the process of the image in such a quick time frame is my main attraction to digital. I'm still quite a Leica fan but love to swith my bias frequently !!
