1.
I'm using photoshop cs3 which, as I understand it, is not compatible with the Nikon D800. I am shooting in raw and want to edit my images as far as contrast, temperature, brightness, white balance, etc. as I do with my D300. With D300, I convert the nef to a dng with the Adobe camera raw 4.4 dng converter after I have downloaded the images. They don't show until I shut down Bridge and start again which then shows the dng files as images.
So, how can I do something similar with raw images from a D800?
I did just buy Adobe Lightroom 4.0. Will this program allow me to convert the nef files to dng and then edit contrast, temp, white balance, etc. as I do with bridge to photoshop? Can I just edit the D800 raw in lightroom as I have done in the past with Bridge and photoshop cs3?

 2.
Using photoshop cs3. When I am in bridge I go to tools, batch rename. Some setting must have changed as the renamed files change to an unusable type file. They look like a piece of paper (word document?) in the bridge content editor and cannot be opened as an image. What settings must I use in the batch rename tool so the images will be renamed but not in an unusable format?
Thanks for help.

 3.
Nathan and Rodeo, Thanks very much. I thought the su 4 was an accessory.
I will try both methods now. I am assuming that the sb800 will not function ttl with the cls system and now I must set both the lumopro and the sb800 manually. Is that correct?

 4.
That's not good news. When I bought the unit and spoke to the lumopro rep they assured me it would work off camera although I would have to set the flash manually. If I have to buy those two Nikon accessories (without checking the prices) I assume I might just as well have bought a Sb910 instead!

 5.
Just bought a lumopro 160 for use as off camera flash for use with Nikon d300 and it does not seem to have any effect although it fires. I am setting the camera body to commander and also using an sb 800. The sb 800 is working and lighting but the lumopro is firing but not adding any light the interior room photo even though the power is set to full power. How should I set this flash off body?

 6.
I'm using photoshop cs3 to preview my raw files and then open in camera raw 4.6 to edit the raw before going to photoshop for final editing. Sometimes, but not always, the photo opens in camera raw 4.6 on only one soft short click (to preview in the right side pane) and sometimes it only previews without opening. I would prefer if the image only opens on two clicks so I can preview on one short click until I find the exposure I want to final edit. I tried preferences but see no option to adjust the opening clicks or sensitivity of the mouse (using a wireless mouse and not the touch pad). How do I adjust this so the image only opens on a double click?
Thanks for any help.

 7.
Michael, I don't believe there is a B mode but I don't think dust on the sensor is the issue as the black spot does not show up on still images. Thus, this problem must have something to do with the video function. The black spot is also always in one spot and is perfectly round.
I contacted Nikon by phone yesterday and actually received great service with a rep walking me through there current tech service where I posted a sample video with black spot. I am awaiting an email response.
I bought this camera strictly for video usage so I can't comment on the still image quality but I will say that the few times I have used it for stills I was not too impressed.

 8.
My Nikon P300 shoots video 1920x1080 but always has a little black spot in the center of the clip. This looks like dust on a sensor on a still image but the black sport does NOT show on still images.
Does anyone know what this is from and how I can get rid of the black spot?

 9.
New computer in use so I lost the actions I had written in old computer for photoshop cs3.
What I have to do is send "proofs" or contact sheet to client but I can't seem to write an action to convert a quantity of images at once. My images are in a dng format which I converted from nef.
So my question is twofold:
1) How to create contact sheet that I can email. I know I can create a contact sheet in bridge by going to: tools>photoshop>contact sheetII but I cannot seem to email that contact sheet. How do I accomplish this?
2) I cannot write an action to open the dng image and then change the size to smaler size and then save.
I know I will need other actions in the future but to start an action from bridge when the images are dng, I image goes to camera raw 4.6 which requires my selecting open. I, of course, want all this to be automatic just by running the action including closing the image and saving after whatever action I have written.
Help is much appreciated.

 10.
I posted this a few weeks ago: http://www.photo.net/digital-darkroom-forum/00Z6iQ
and as per my response at 4:18 pm, all was working well. Now I am trying to install ps3 again in another new computer and I follow the same instructions to remove the plug in and then paste it back from whence it came but with no success. Files do not convert and show up in bridge as a nef which ps3 does not want to process.
Any ideas as to how to correct this?
Shooting with nikon d300 which should be supported.
Thanks.

 11.
Ken, In the ten minutes between my post and your answer, I found this:
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3822
and installed the converter 4.3.1 following the instructions of moving the .8bi file and then moving back in to the original folder again.
All seems to be working fine except that when I try to shoot in raw and jpeg/fine, only the jpeg shows up. Also the box says "failed to convert" for a number of files.
How can I shoot and retrieve both nef and jpeg AND is there any benefit in using the DNG 5.5 converter that you sent me?
Thanks again!

 12.
I just bought a new pc and discover that after I installed my photoshop cs3, the RAW images do not convert and cannot be opened. I believe I recall from my last purchase of new camera I had to download something called ACR and a DNG converter from Adobe in order to process images. My camera is a Nikon D-300 shooting raw and I am using photoshop cs3 on a windows 7 pc.
Advice and directions as to how to do this.
Thank you for advice.

 13.
I'm running a "slide show" of travel pix at a local venue. The images are on disc and will be run through a computer to a digital projector. I want to identify the location of each image by numbering them and having a sheet available to show where each number pic is located. I am using photoshop cs3 and want to know if there is a method I can use to put a numbered watermark on each pic in the same location such as lower right. There are 130 images in the show so I would like to use photoshop cs3 to automatically number each image consecutively in the same spot. Is this possible?

 14.
Video at 1080 , mpeg 4, shot with Nikon P300 is jerky in my mpeg streamclip editing program. I had the same problem with a Nikon dslr shot at 1080. What is the problem? When I edit video shot at 720 or lower quality, I have no problem so I think it has to do with the size of 1080 and not the camera. What adjustments must I make to avoid the jerky (meaning the frames seem to skip from one movement to the next with a jerky feel and not smooth)?

 15.
Thanks, Mike, but that already was unchecked in "edit>preferences>file handling in photoshop. "Prefer Adobe camera raw for supported raw" files WAS checked. I unchecked that box and restarted but jpegs are still opening in camera raw edit area (exposure, recovery, blacks, brightness, etc.).
I see that in BROWSER "edit>camera raw preferences> there is a "always open jpeg files with setting using camera raw" but this box is also UNchecked.
Any other ideas how to solve this problem?

Also, my "browse" crashes about every 10th edit or so. How do I stop browse program from crashing so often?
Thanks again.
