Very nice action shot! I love the balance and the sharpness of the background with your control of DOF. I wouldn't have thought in an action shot such as this, that the background would have been so clear. Not perfect, but damned good.

    balls to the wall! 5/5

Excellent shot! Love the background! Gotta appreciate the bike. I prefer the racers leaning into the the turns coming towards the photographer at just the right angle to capture the full lean line.

That is hard to follow as I wrote it.

Let's just suffice to say, I prefer the racers coming towards us in the photo. But, I like seeing the bike manufacturer on the back of the jacket as you've managed.

  1. Ooooh! Bob! Now that is a different look. I like your idea. I play too long at times and I believe I lose sight of what my goal is at times.

This is one of those times when I had to walk away before I took the next step and really went overboard. Your feed back and those of other Pn'rs really helps to open up my eyes and my ability to gain perspective again.

Thank you for the brain booster!

I recently saw a great photo of a statue which was so powerful in its own right but the angle and use of natural lighting intensified the impact of the statue even more.

It was taken from the side ground level looking up with the sun facing the backside of the photographer. The shadows cast by the angle of the sun led me to believe it was around mid morning which was not too harsh on the subject thankfully. Once it was cropped tightly, the image was a work of art for the eye.

It was being able to see the detail of the statue that made it more powerful, for me.

You put me right back in it. Thanks! Most beautiful place on earth, to me. Such a perfect photo. Lighting, balance, colour, dof. It's all right.

    Really great shot!

I like the pixelated effect of this shot. It gives it a textured feel. I really like the sun and the reflection cast upon the water so sharply. The lighting from your side could be better but, no matter. Frame it in and walk away for now.

Dude! This sooooooo rocks! Compositionally perfect. I'm lovin the balance and the symmetry. The tones are fine with unnecessary. The would be a great b&w too. In fact, I'd like to see done in IR. Now that would so rule!

I find the lighting to be well balanced and the composition to be good. I wonder how really tightening up the focus on the shroom to almost totally haze out the background would affect the perception of depth.

    I see I didn't say that well.

I like the shot very well just as it is but couldn't help seeing more to do with such a great subject to work with.

Now this is geometrically interesting. Teh focus is off just a bit on the I beams that lean to the left but the rest appears well focused. I really like how you chose to see this for your shoot. The balance is excellent adn the symmetry is damned good. It all works for me.

High noon! Love the colorful subject and the crop. The water is the perfect backdrop. I'm not sure about the balance overall. Something is off, but I'm not sure why or what. Sorry. I will think on it. I do like the photo.

I wish I were superhuman again! The energy in your child action photo's is so contagious!

The only thing I would try on shots like this are to get the faces to show more. I can see where that might be a challenge as well. Photographing superhumans is not so easy. You gotta be as fast as they are sometimes. :) Good shot!

I would suggest using a flash or take this photo at a different time of day when you have a small amount of sunlight hitting it directly. It is too dark for us to see any detail and technically, it is not really well thought out in terms of angle, or background, or balance overall. This would be a good one to play around with to see what angle stands out the best and where to stand for the best background.

I like your idea for the photo but it needs to be more thought out. :)

Hopefully we'll see another version soon!

  2. For me, this is not a good angle and there is too much sky, which is overpowering the suject.

I'm no great photographer, but this is not one of the better photo's I've seen. Nor, is it one of Guido's better shots.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm....smart blur? That is the one filter I didn't use. I will try it on the original to see if it alleviates the visual defect I've created by using the motion and gaussian blur. (don't do that, if you're ever considering mixing blurr's.) ;-)

    Reflection

This is one of the most well executed lilly photo's I've ever seen. The balance and DOF are perfection. The sharpness is beyond my skill and knowledge of lighting.
