Lens recommendations for Amsterdam, The Netherlands
phillips replied to gerald_wallace's topic in Travel

I would second Wouter's suggestion about Delft, and also consider the Hague. I think your lens combinations with the full frame are fine for Amsterdam. For the river part of the trip I think that using these lenses on the crop frame body would be a good choice.
-

Thanks Tony-The Alabama Hills area is near to a small town (Lone Pine) in the Eastern Sierras, and I was the fourth or fifth person in line to get this view-slipping and sliding and getting my body into shapes that my almost octogenarian body did not seem appropriate. I debated about the cropping, but I finally decided on this, as I liked the "flow"of the arch in the frame. In retrospect , I think a somewhat smaller focal length would have given both a sense of the arch and the background without cutting off the top of the arch. Well, I get to go back this summer. Thanks again, Phil

For travel purposes with my Nikon D800 I use my Nikon 24-120 f/4 lens over my 24-70 f/2.8. It has a great range for general travel, has VR, and is much lighter than the 24-70 mm lens . A good alternative for me to the 14-24 f/2.8 is the Nikon 20 mm f/1.8 lens. I also have taken my Nikon 70-200 f/4 lens with the 1.4 teleconverter.
