The Canon EF 85/1.8 is a jewel and IMO outperforms the current 90 cron.

I came across a very useful web page with MANY links to downloadable
camera manuals:<br>
Click <a

Do you know some interesting links too? Please post them in this
thread.

Hello all,<br><br>
I am offered a Leica R kit consisting of a R3 with motor and three
lenses. I have no knowledge of R equipment so I'd like to have your
opinion.<br>
The lenses have the following serials:<br>
- 28/2.8 24419xx<br>
- 50/2 33383xx<br>
- 80/1.4 32023xx<br>
- R3 14936xx<br>
I'd like to know the version of the lenses and the approximate date
of production (Germany?). Are these lenses compatible with all R
bodies? Suppose all equipment is in excellent condition, what would
be a fair price?<br>
Thanks alot!

I personally prefer to use my SLR for super wides, a Pentax MX with SMC 15/3.5 lens. A wonderful lens with Leica-built quality. Somehow a superwide doesn't seem right on a RF.

Leave the plastic cover on the bottom plate if you're afraid for wear. The Luigi cases are higly overpriced in my opinion.

Ivan, follow this <a href="http://www.westonmaster.com/">link</a>.

The current Elmarit-M 90mm is one of the finest lenses around. It is absolutely wonderful for portraits and the size and weight are right.
Perfect value for money. Second prices vary from 700 to 850 US$ on the second hand market I think.

I apologize...I fully agree with putting several spearate posts all together in one. I should have read better.

Here we go again....
Sorry James, no offense meant, but this topic has been discussed so many times...just skip the FS and Photo posts if you're not interested.

There is a lot of empty space on the right hand side of the sreen. I personally find the bars to highlight the posts confusing.
But then again, it will be a matter of getting used to. If this format offers advantages for moderators or site maintainers then please go ahead.

I don't think your assessment about DOF is correct. DOF is a function of focal length, focus distance, and aperture setting. The 1.5 crop factor is not actually increasing your focal length of your lens.
Let's look at an example. Suppose you have two prints of the same slide. The first is an 8x12. The second is a 16x24. Both are full frame prints. Since they are both from the same slide, they both have the same DOF. Now what the 1.6 digital crop factor is actually doing is similar to cutting an 8x12 section out of the middle of the 16x24 print. You now have 2 8x12 prints. However, the "cropped" print looks like it was taken with a longer lens. It wasn't though. Also, the DOF is also the same in both prints.

Jay, instead of waiting maybe another 6-8 weeks you can also trade in your M7's for MP's! No need to update the vf!...:-) And admit it, you secretely love black paint..:-)

Marc, please take my place...due to a misunderstanding Roger counted me in.

Wonderful shot! It takes quite a talent to make such a photo, noctilux or not.

Thanks John.
I must admit that I should have searched better before asking this question...

Thanks Thang, that is an eye opener!
