1. Dear all,

Ever since I started photographing I have been using the 35mm format,

Leica M mostly. I am very interested in trying out medium format and

I would like your advice/opinion on the following:
I am offered a Hasselblad kit consisting of a 500 C body, A12

    cassette, Planar 80/2.8 and a Distagon T* 50/4.
Untill now my type of photography focusses on portraits and

landscapes. Do you think that this is a good set to start with? What

are details that I should pay attention to when purchasing it? Can

you indicate a reasonable price for this kit?
A puicture of the kit can be found <a

    Thanks alot!

  2. I liked New Orleans and I would have stayed a couple of extra days if I had had the opportunity. Business is business though and after spending the Monday at Geismar we flew to Houston that evening where we stayed for the rest of the week.
I will certainly return to New Orleans, and then taking it a bit easier at the big easy!

  3. The atmosphere was very pleasant and the slogan "the big easy" was chosen well. I felt very comfortable in NO and enjoyed the scenery. Interesting to see the different influences of other cultures (I think mostly Spanish and French?) on the architecture and maybe even reflected in the lifestyle of the local people.
007Elu-16412384.jpg.605d787230988515d8370840447eea21.jpg

  4. The first appearance of the French quarter looked rather European to me. No huge towers, no wide streets with 10 driving lanes, and an amazingly small amount of taxis (note that my point of reference is the typical New York image shown on tv here..). However, there was some tourist transportation possible...
007ElU-16411884.jpg.8fa5eb7fe168f288357d2473d252fe19.jpg

  5. A few weeks ago I asked this forum for input on how to spend a day

in New Orleans and the response was overwhelming! So please find

below my impressions of a first visit to the United States ever,

with some snapshots taken in New Orleans.

Unfortunately this was a business trip, so we didn't have the time

for some real tourist pleasure...Anyway, after arriving in the late

hours on Saturday evening we went to the French Quarter the next

    morning by hire car.
We wanted to have a coffee and a beignet at

Cafe du Monde but the place was packed...obviously every tourist

    knows where to find it!
007ElN-16411784.jpg.59a94aba8a36dab156ae97c558c18563.jpg

  6. Thank you all so much for your suggestions! The general idea from the responses I get is that a visit to the French quarter is the best idea, walk around and feel the atmosphere. A few drinks and a good meal must be very easy to get...:-)
I'm sure I'll have a good time, too bad that I only have 1 day...

Dennis and Stephen,

I'll arrive on Saturday 24th around 4 pm. I will stay in the Hilton hotel (I think next to the airport) so if you have ideas of having a beer together I would like that!

Thanks again to all, I am looking forward to my visit!

  7. Marc,

Your images are outstanding, I am very impressed by your achievement!

I have a friend in Italy (he's almost 85!) who will certainly be able to make the adapter you need. Unfortunately I don't have a Canon 10D...maybe if I can get my hands on a cheap analog camera with the same mount I might achieve something.

    I'll let the forum know.

  8. Hello everyone,

I will be in the United States for the first time in my life for a

business trip. I will arrive in the afternoon on Saturday 24th in

New Orleans. Business visits start only on Monday so that means that

I have the Sunday for myself.
Please share some suggestions on how where to go to, what to see,

what to do and what to avoid.
Thanks alot!
