Hi Sami the better choice is a 5D prices will come down shortly, unless you have EFS lenses.

Hi Catalin, sorry to hear about your problem. I think a visit to Canon service is in order the 40D is not actually
waterproof.

I would consider this to be the Sanderson Tropical Field for the simple reason its perfect useful design.
Made in England by a cabinet maker Frederick Sanderson , quite succesful he started the Sanderson
Camera Works in 1895.
I own a Meagher Tailboard a little older from 1876 all mahogany well made and still in working order but the Sanderson is far more useful. I agree with you Mathew your Erneman Tropical Klapp is a work of art
and absolute beautyful to look at. Klapp is the German word for folding.

Propably a very capable camera except for that useless video ( useless to me ) but once the price comes down to around $ 1000.00 I will buy one.

I think the 40D price will drop for the simple reason it is to be discontinued, on the other hand as Mendel points out
the 5D will also but I use the 40D now and its great for sport even fast focus works quite well.

Looking at the photo I think the problem here is fungus, the first thing to do is expose the lens to sunlight
or a strong source of UV. A CLA after is still required.

Kevin the speed marked red on the slow dial activates the faster speeds on top.
Normal is 1/30sec as it is on my IIIC and IIIG but my IIIf RD has 1/25.

As Ben & Michael pointed out B&H will back up the customer so this should be your choice.
-
Zeiss only sells the designs and name the best advise is stick to Canon lenses.

I would replace my 40D with flying pig in an instant!

Hi John its definitely the lens is not sitting parallel to the film plane, its to do with
depht of focus beeing so much less than than the depht of field.
Often the measurement is just a fraction of a mm, I suggest to use a loupe
check sharpness on the angle from both sides the problem is the right side of the lens panel.

Hi Tommy, a little flaking as seen in the first shot is propably not so good but I will say
wearing out coating on edges is happening on some of my Leica lenses too.
Leica lens bodies are hard anodised and still wear.
Years back bodies where made from brass and double chrome plated the durability
of lenses like that is outstanding however the weight and price is too.
I think most here have it right a worn looking lens proves it has been used and actually
does look quite ok.

Hi John , the lens was issued with some of the Baby Linhof cameras the Linhof 70 and the Press
both are 6x9 ( actually 56x85 with the Linhof 6x9 back ) the lens will cover this quite well from f11 down to f22.
I think the biggest problem is the distance to the film plane not sure about the 23 Crown but on my Baby Linhof its so close there is no longer any movement expept a little angle. I use the SA 65mm f5.6 and your 53mm would be closer. A fine lens you will enjoy it.

Alfonso , you are on the right track Eneloop are the most suitable batteries.
Extreme low discharge even after no use for a year, only draw back is charge time is longer.
Some of mine have been discharged / charged more than 500 times with no loss of power.

Great Larry just great is all I can say. More please!

I just like that Summicron f3.5 plus the lower back engraving " everything for Germany "

Hi Shu Adeal will send it to Leica Solms , you could do this yourself and have it repaired properly.
My advise is there is no one here in Australia capable of a service like Leica Solms.
A fine camera like your R6 will serve you for many years to come if treated right.

I must say never having used auto focus SLR's before my 40D has been an eye opener.
I rarely see it miss enogh to refocus. I don't shoot sport and looking at his tests make me think
just how much more could be achieved I would be happy with the results would you do better with manual
focus?

Hi Melinda, the Canon EF 50mm f1.4 USM is outstanding and $ 325.00 at B&H.
However if your aim is the 17-55 you propably will not need the 50mm.

As the name says" Ready Set " no need to fiddle with contols.
-
Hi Jesse , I agree with most of the statements here but my advise is the 17-55 is way too short even at 1.6 crop. Better and a little closer is a 300mm = 480mm.
Leica R5 serial number
in Leica and Rangefinders
Posted
Hi Gene serial numbers for R do overlap, as a rule numbers given for any production run are only a guide.
Reported production for the R5 are 30 000 units.
