I agree Gareth--I've been experimenting with MGW in selenium a lot lately, and it's quickly becoming a favorite.

Hey Gareth,
Gotta tell you, I really like this one! It looks like an old plane remembering how it used to fly, or something like that. Nice printing too!
-
It's technically a good shot, but there is not a lot to hold interest here. Maybe if there was some intense grimace on his face?
Keep it up.

Wow--inspiring photograph! I really, really like the tones. I'm going to have to steal this idea! Just kidding, great shot.

Wow! This is an excellent macro shot. The texture on the spider is great, and the color really separates it from the background. Great job!
-
Cool shot! A darker sky would have been nice to complement the orange, but the shadow patterns are great! Keep it up.

I like the shot very much--except for the sun. It's a bit distracting. Nice work though!

The central subject, the person, is too small I think. A different angle and better cropping would have made this photo a winner!

Tones, contrast, sharpness, etc. are all good... but what about the composition? I'm not really sure what you were trying to do. If you mean to show a feeling of him being alone, more space in the front would have been better. If you were going for a portrait, well then of course more detail of the subject is need. I think it's worth reshooting though!

Hey Jeremy,
I was just browsing through your portfolio, and this one really caught my attention. I did a set of similar photos (pockets of jeans, unbuttoned jeans, etc.). The contrast and composition here are excellent. Keep up the good work!

Could be the scan, but the statue looks out of focus. Compositionally, maybe you could have moved to the right, and caught the sun right behind the statue? The stuff on the left is distracting, I think. I like the idea.

I really like this one. The composition and tonality are beautiful. I think it's the best in your portfolio.

Very nice tones, but the top looks blown out. Knowing Delta, this can probably be fixed with a little burning in the darkroom.

Well, there's nothing new about it, but technically you did a good job.

Thomas, if the shutter speed was 125 at f4.5, then at f16 the shutter speed would have been around 1/8th of a second, which would have given much more blur. To get a faster shutter speed, you'll need to widen the aperture (smaller number, bigger opening), or use a faster film.

Erwin, this picture is beautiful. Highest marks in originality.

I think you're on the right track. The plants covering the barn are rather distracting, but if you had gotten up higher to put the plants under the barn, the composition would have been much more pleasing.
-
I'm not crazy about the blur effect, it seem like an attempt to salvage an otherwise boring picture. You might try a fisheye effect for more drama.

A tighter crop would be nice, and a wider aperture to isolate him from the background. You captured the moment well.

Hi John,
Great photo. I've got a side question... where did you take this shot? I was in Australia this summer, and I've got a photo that's really similar to this one--I took it at Tangalooma Resort, on Moreton Island. I'm just curious... thanks for any info!
