I just saw an almost identical photo as the contest winner at Apogee Photo. Not the same picture, for sure, but the same location and idea. I liked yours more.
-
I feel kind of like I drank too much caffeine. Aside from the shakiness, the picture looks distorted. Is this the lens, some digital editing, or just my eye? The composition is nice.
-
The texture of the water is great--very natural looking.
-
Nice exposure! A foreground subject would have really helped the composition, but it is nice as it is.
-
Great night shot! I was looking for blown out highlights but could find none. You did a wonderful job on the exposure.
-
Interesting picture! The tones are very good.
-
I agree, probably some type of bizarre lens flare. Interesting effect!
-
Creepy! Interesting photo, but it is not as effective as it could be. The first thing I noticed that it is either out of focus or the lens is not sharp at all. It also looks a little overexposed.
-
Very nice Pete! Great "urban" sunset.
-
Looks like some digital editing. If not, great capture! It's a nice shot though, even if it is digital.
-
Makes me want to buy a watch! Effective advertising shot, nice job on this and the other two in your folder.
-
Hm, this is an interesting abstract picture. I don't get it, but it is pretty... nice job.
-
Nicely done Lee. I think what this picture needs is a splash of color--most color pictures do. A little fill flash might have been good too, but then you would have scared the deer off. Good job.

Stunning! This whole folder is great.

Wonderful portrait! I don't think that there is anything to change about this. Very well done, and congratulations on POW.
-
Very nice exposure! There are no blown out highlights or blocked shadows. Nicely done.
-
Great exposure! I think a more amazing view could be gotten with a wider lens (17-35, fisheye?), and keeping the camera as flat as possible. Nice job though.

Makes me wish I had brought black and white film to Rome last summer. Did you use a filter with this (very dramatic sky!)?
-
I think a graduated ND filter might help here, or at least a polarizer. If you can work it out with your lab, try overexposing and underdeveloping to get a greater tonal range.
-
Very abstract, good composition, and good exposure. I would like to see more texture in the foreground but there's only so much you can ask for.
-
As you might be able to tell, this shot is overexposed. Notice how the sky is totally blown out and there are no true blacks. I've shot with the film you are using and printed with the same paper, and I know that the contrast range here can be handled. I would suggest about a stop less exposure, and a yellow or red filter on the lens to get some detail in the sky. You can also add a filter during printing, but that's no substitute for a bad negative. Nice composition too.

This is a great shot in almost every way, worthy of the ratings it's got. Beautiful work.

Just to let you know, I totally support your message and wish you lots of luck. From a photographic standpoint, I'd like to maybe see more of the sign, but it does go well with the rest of the folder.

I like the subject, but the background is very distracting. Maybe you should crop it so the heads fill the frame? Nice shot anyhow.
