Feathered rats really but they occasionally make decent subjects.

You did the feathered rat justice. A lesson that ALL critters have some potential, given good light like you caught.

Nice job of catching the bat in the beam of light, I am wondering where you are standing to catch this shot. Very good!

It's actually a seagull. I'm standing on the pier at the Seattle waterfront where the fireboat is tied up. I set up the camera and looked through the viewfinder and waited (and waited!)

The composition's great! Still, this shot seems to be begging for fill flash to give some details in the shadow. You captured the moment well.
