  1. Hi Andrew,

Have you seen lately here in photo.net class ads? there are so many nikon gears up for sale compare to canon.IMHO there's been huge migrating from nikon to canon.Cause of the technology canon has been the ultimate choice now for people who also considering DSLR in the future start with their 10d to 1DS.So why wait? go Canon all the way!!! you won't regret and that's my 2 cents for you, take care and happy shooting!!!

  2. Dave,

You already know the answer " it's if sounds to good to be true", they all crooks and stolen ebay ID member has been used.If you see something like that report to ebay but I assumed ebay already knew and what they did is make the item as an invalid item. But it doesn't stop all those eastern european thieves from all their activities. They mostly come from romania, estonia ,etc and I don't know how the F**k they did that cause they are from world third country but the technology they have to hack and get in to ebay system information is amazing. So better stay away and always check your account periodically on ebay.Cheeeeeersss and take care!!!

  3. Hi Jayesh,

Get the 17-40 and I think it has a better build since it is a new design lens and it is L series, I don't know if you're talking about the discontinued 20-35/2.8 in that case I would suggest the 17-35/2.8 over the 20-35 as you mentioned you would go to digital in the future. As you will need to consider the 1.6 crop factor so that 3mm wide will give you extra more room.

And I don't think B&h will lower the price since it is a new lens ( for the 17-40) but you will find a lot here on class ads and ebay for the 17-35 with same price range ($700-800) and couple hundreds $ less for the 20-35. So good luck and ahppy shooting!!!

  4. Hi all,

I need to find out of how many rolls has been taken with my 1v and I

just lost my manual and only have the quick guide but it doesn't have

any info on how we could check the functions.BTW any sites that

provides a manual for 1v? I tried on canon websites but they don't

have a download version, we have to buy another copy, IMHO it's a

waste of time ( I used to have minolta maxxum 9 and they provide free

manual copy in PDF adobe acrobat) I think canon should consider this

to all canon users, hello canon do you hear us???.Thanks to all and

    have a good day!!!

  5. Hi all,

I'm planning to buy a 16-35 EF and along with a polarizer filter. So

my question is which filter should I get, the slim one or regular

will be fine in order to avoid vigneting? anyway it would be a B+W

filter. Also I found that they have a kaessemann type, what makes this

different with the regular polarizer besides their price? any

advantages at all? thanks for answers and have a nice 4th July

    weekend!!!

  6. Hi Patrick,

Did you read on features thread on front page between the 1.4 and 1.8 of canon eos 50mm lens? You could find a good review there. They both are good lenses but I myself prefer the 1.4, also the 50mm macro you mention is for different purpose lens and for this application I would prefer the 100/2.8 USM or non USM version. So it depends on your needs and off course budget.Good luck and take care!!

  7. Hi,

Nope and that's so far I know, I my self just bought the older 28-70/2.8 and it's damn sharp, and for me I don't need the extra 4mm wide, instead I will go with the 16-35 as I'm also planning to buy a 10d and in that case the 16-35 will be my always on lens attached to the 10d.And don't worry if you get a lemon on your new lens, you can always return it to the store you buy and get other stock.

  8. Hi Everyone,

It's been a while since I post a question here, The thing is

I'm planning to get a 10d in couple weeks or so but I just read some

threads here that canon will release a new line for their dslr

system, and if I'm right but not sure that this will be like their

current eos 3 body based. So if this is true will it be worth to wait

and not to get the 10d? I can wait if it's only 3-6 months but if not

I just go get the 10d for now.

currently I have the 1vhs and this DSLR hype makes me can not

resist to make the plunge and honestly I can not afford a 1ds, maybe

a used 1d but 10d has a higher pixel right? 6mp vs 4mp? so it will be

good enough for starter in this crazy world of dslr, this digital

thing man every 6 months they will release a new model and ours will

be old enough the day we buy our new dslr but not for film. okay

that's enough but any info will be appreciate and have a nice

    weekend!!!.

  9. Hi all,

I have a canon EF 100 macro non USM and would consider to upgrade to

the USM version of this lens. The question is what is other advantage

of the USM version besides this USM mode? are they focus faster in AF?

what about optical quality? bokeh, etc?.Anybody has done comparison

side by side?.I'm happy with the results of my current macro lens but

if it is truly worth it to get the USM and sell this one, I would be

more than happy. One thing though I use this lens not only as my macro

lens but sometimes for portrait. Thanks to all who post and have a

    nice day!!!.

  10. Me Too!!!!,

I just shopped the past two weeks on 1vHS, a 70-200/2.8 USM, 28-70/2.8 L, 50/1.4, 100/2.8 macro and 550 EX flash, and won't stop there untill I get my 16-35/2.8 later on and several B+W filters. So please pinch me from my bad shopping habit before I buy the 1ds next month !!!!!!! , congrats Joe and have fun with your new baby and don't forget to share your pictures taken with the new one!!! cheeeerrrrsssss.......

  11. Hi guys,

I just broke my sekonic 328 digilite F and time to get new one since

Buy new cost is not that much than if I have to repair this one.So

what would be the best all around light meter with flash metering

ability? or even with spot attachment?.

I'm narrowing to sekonic 358 or 508, or maybe any users from minolta

and gossen? pros ad cons of yours.Thank you and would appreciate any

    info.Have a nice day!!!

  12. Hi Maria,

What I saw maybe it could be a camera shake? What is your exposure time? you need a long exposure for this kind of light situation especially if you took this without flash am I right? and what ISO did you set? I know a 50mm 1.8 is a good lens but it's not a guarrantee.

In low lighting condition such as the one that you took, a tripod and cable release might be help due to prevent the camera shake and yes it seems you had it focus but once you release the shutter it will be a different story. It's just my thought since I don't even have a DSlR not just yet.

  13. Hi Walter,

The best camera ever period!!! I use 1VHS with the NP-E2 Nimh battery and took 10 frames per seconds amazing ( I took my lil' nephew pics running around and I didn't even blink my eyes!!!) and it's about 50 rolls or maybe even more when I used with this battery.Expect to pay $300 more with the HS but it's worth it and the battery and the charger are about $400 for both but you save money buying battery.Cheeeerrssss!!!

  14. R.T.

Just tell your friend to save money bit more, then buy the 28-135 USM IS from canon and forget about buying cheap, freakin sigma lens!! and by the way any constant f/2.8 lenses from canon won't be cheap. So in my point of view, it won't hurt to save money and wait bit longer than buy a cheap 3rd party lens maker and later he will regret!! Good luck and happy shooting!!!

  15. Hi Joe,

It seems you pushing yourself so hard on getting what lenses you want to get by asking people opinion on what is the best, IMHO it will be back on you and offcourse your budget limitation. And as your mind already set with the 10d as your will be birthday present, I don't think camera will be an issue here.

If you do have chance to get the two lenses that your aunt has offer you, go get it and if you don't like it you always can sell it and get the lens which will more suitable with you. There's ebay or even here to sell your stuffs. But you should get the most of it first untill you find the those are the "lens" for you.

And as the time will tell, by the time you get your digital 10d camera and put whatever lenses you have. One other advise and if this is possible in your area try to rent first ( I have Calumet fortunately two blocks from where I live).this way you could save money before setting up with whatever lenses you like, again if this is possible.

Another thing that I always do is to get used lens, I never buy new unless I do really have extra money to burn. Something that will hold its value no matter it's an L or not, whenever you buy new the next time you want to sell it, it will be no chance gonna be the same price when you got it.But as used equipts whanever you want to sell it again you'll never loose money on it maybe just lil' bit fraction .This is my own experience, any thought on this anybody???, BTW another thing on 3rd party manufaturer, will not hold its value against Canon own lenses.

So what I would like to share with you is just be patient first and it will come all the way. Good luck and happy shooting!!!

  16. Andrew,

I just try to point Henley that with extra money without having to migrate to canon since he has nikon body and get the nicer lens for his camera, since i'm not a nikon user but i know that nikon has same range with canon L series lenses.$400 for the scanner he still has $1100 in pocket ( he's fathers anyway) and perhaps even more since he's not gona sell his nikon body so any funds he has will be better of with lenses.Good luck Henley!!!

  17. Unless you willing to get the L series zoom.... either the24-70/2.8, 16-35/2.8 or 17-40/4 ( better price than 16-35) but do landscape i don't think you'll need the extra stop.Anyway do your calculation how much will you spend on extra 20, 24mm or 14 at the widest and get zoom and has the flexibility of carrying one lens, off course resolution will be better with prime, but with these three newly zoom i guess you have no worries.Good luck and happy shooting!!!
