  1. Hello Laurie,

I just want to say, you might want to try the integral first and auto focus later on after you get use to and you can save lots of money by buying integral kits alone than buy just the auto focus body( it's almost half price of auto focus body if you buy integral kit, based on robert white price or hongkong vendor).Since you also mentioned that you aren't worry about the AF features so there you go.And integral can use digital backs also not only autofocus, check it out on their website (rollei.de or rolleiusa.com). About lens go with the schneider lens (only rollei has their range lenses to offer in medium format world, isn't it wonderful?). i my self currently use 80/2.8 pQS(zeiss) and 180/2.8 pq(schneider) lenses but will likely to get the jewel of the lens that is 90 APO symmar, almost all will praise this lens. And you said you do most portraiture and wedding, you might want this range of lenses offer them 60 distagon (get the schneider if you can but will likely be used or zeiss will be good as well), 150 or 180 for tele photo and 80 or 90 for general photography but with 90 you also could do a macro photography, this is their main purpose but lots of people i know use this lens as portrait and general include lanscape. So i just want to say welcome to the wonderful world of rollei!!!

    Cheeerrrrssss.

  2. Hi everyone,

I just bought a 645 back for my 6008i, and have some questions to

ask.I need someone to assist me how to attach the adapter on my

camera? or the back?. On the inside cover my 645 back cover there

are two seperate parts which says 2 parts of 6,4x5 screen, where do i

attach these? and there are two parts of some kind of rollers(is this

the adapter?) and where do i attach these two also? and is it

necessarily for me to put all these together? the thing is i have to

find out how big is the frame on the view finder if i don't put the

adapter. I really don't know where to start since i don't have the

manual( bought it used) for the back and in my 6008 manual there's

nothing indicate how to put these things on. So any further

assistance will be appreciate and please if you could describe it

step by step, in case i will not missing something. Thanks again and

    look forward rom you guys!!!.

    Regards,

  3. Hello,

If you are looking for 645SAf, so there are four to choose the newly released Hassy H1, rollei 6008Af, Contax 645Af and mamiya Af, for price well i guees you know mamiya is the more cheaper than the other three, second is contax and last will be hasselblad and Rollei.it depends on how much you want to spend but as the price range goes from $2500 -$6000 (mamiya-hassy) basic kit plus all the accesories such as backs, and lenses(except rollei you have to buy seperate prism). And yeah they are not cheap, if i were you just to start why don't you try mamiya pro tl? it's wedding photographer most and i think more affordable camera kit compare to auto focus camera model ( but still we talking medium format here nothing is cheap, you can go with old camera if you want good cheap and reliable like mamiya c330 many wedding photograper favs). But as you mentioned you would like the option of 645AF so there they are. As studio set up try rent first and get used to set the lighting on your own and from there you can choose (many out there)what is the best lighting set up or you and if you want to carry as your basic kit when you do wedding. You can also try wedding thread on this site and there are many infos regarding wedding questions include lighting set up.So good luck with your search and happy shoting.

  5. Hello Markus,

I know your pain also cause i've been in your situation before to choose between hassy or rollei. And i have tried hassy (rented from calumet here in OC, california) but just don't like it so i decided to try rollei and try to find a good deal on ebay which i did find one (6008 integral) and the first time i used this camera i just fell in love right away and now i just couldn't justify my expenses for this system (if you in between hassy or rollei neither is cheap!!!).My advise is if you want to try or at least buy used first to save your budget, you can look on ebay or here on photo.net classified forum. And from there you decide to go with the system or get hassy instead. To find rollei rental is just hard or almost impossible, i don't know why they just don't have rollei on their store to rent (in my case Calumet and pro photo in irvine) they said not so many people using rollei which is true but what a pitty for those that don't like this beast or even don't try one.But it's just a matter of like or dislike and for me i don't like hassy it's that simple.Anyway if you want to buy new and you want to save some more extra money than you buy here in USA, got robert white(robertwhite.co.uk) or amhlee and etefore on ebay(their web are accphoto.com and hksupllies.com they both from hong kong)And personally recommend anthony lee from accphoto(amhlee)he's a great guy and nice to deal with. But if you want to prioritize warranty then you have to go USA dealer such as B&H etc or you can go to ctrades.com which i believe have the best deal on rollei USA dealer. All in all just go to rollei-usa.com and find out which is nearer to your place and go find out your self how great is this camera.Good luck and enjoy whatever camera you choose.

  6. Hi Dan!

I just want to share me experience here, me too had been in this situation and one thing for sure to entry medium format, it is just wonderful and my first one is rolleiflex mx evs which you can get for around $200-$250 on ebay and i just fell in love with the sharpness of the lens (xenar) and soon after that i tried mamiya c330s with all the lenses they have and it struck me with their 180 super, it just sharp and sharp, but on the other hand i just can not forget how sharp my mx evs eventhough it's only xenar and not the plannar from model 3.5F or 2.8F but i was quite and actually more happy with this lens compare to mamiya that i had.As for minolta i heard that they have good reputation and also consider yashica 124g, i also had that once but sold it since i want to try another rolleiflex from the 2.8f model. It's just there, whenever i used my rolleiflex i just feel it that it's gonna be great. And that's it all my experience with my TLR's and it was fun, and my advise will be go rollei way!!! you'll see the difference. So do your study and hopefully you find a good camera that is best for you.Happy shooting and good luck!!!

  7. Hello everyone!,

I have a question regarding using slot in filter for my rollei 6008

lenses( 50-180) range, and been looking the approriate filter system

that will suit to my lenses, is slot in type filter such as lee,

cokin pro x or singhray system will be acceptable? do i have to buy

adapter to each of the lenses i have?.The reason to get the slot in

is so i can use all of them to all my lenses and not just to my

rollei but to my other 35mm camera lenses.I have once cokin pro (p

series) for my 35m but the problem i have is vignetting once it's

been used beyond 24mm wide.So that's why to get a bigger slot in type

would be nice and never been use a lee system before. Thanks for any

    info and happy shooting!!!

  8. Rollei Doesn't make lenses for their camera, only carl zeiss and schneider kreusznach, and they are the only camera exclusively that has schneider range and once you go rollei system be ready to spend a lot of money and i mean a lot, first try to get used stuff to suit your needs and budget ( like lower end 6001,6003 or even 6006, 6002 or perhaps slx and sl 66), you don't have to mortgage your house, go to ebay and look around. Also why don't you start with 6001 and get descent light meter or spot meter? if you want to have meter option. And i don't think there's 35mm option,as far as i know only old rolleiflex TLR that has this option with rolleipool but i don't know if the latest rollei TLR still has this option, i just don't find TLR a good choice since their limited to use interchangeable backs or lenses, only old mamiya such as 330 or 220 has ability to lenses change.BTW i know that hassy has 35mm adapter but it's only use for panoramic scene, correct me if i'm wrong.Again do your research and get the best camera you can have and be happy, good luck!!!

  9. Thanks to all!! and yeah i cancel the purchase and i got and advise from Mr.Erwin Putts himself that suggested me to not take this and matter fact he also had a test on titanium lens for both model and he said he was not quite happy with the reults and stick with the 35/2 and 50/2 for the sharpness and light weight compare to titanium, unless i want to be collector and in another 50 years might be a good investment but i don't want to be one, i just want to enjoy this beautiful creature and that's it.Thanks again and happy shooting guys!!!
  10. Hi,

if you have extra budget off course no doubt, go either rollei or hasselblad they have all the features you need but be prepare for another extra cash for the lenses and all accesories that you might need in the future, i my self just made a plunge into rollei system and i currently have 6008i with 120 and 220 backs, prism finder, remote release and everything else that comes with the camera and offcourse lenses which are the good possible trio and for my budget allow me to have 50/80/150 all PQS, i wish i could have the schneider range of lens but maybe next time if i have extra money after i make money from this combo from work. Good luck with your search and be happy with what you have!!!

  13. Hello,

I've been searching the best suited medium format camera and i guess

i will pick a Rollei 6008i, question is about the lens, is there any

big difference between pq or pqs lens? beside the shutter speed, pq

is max at 500 and pqs at 1000 and will flash at all speed for both i

guess and what about the El type? considering they are cheaper than

the other pq/s type so please tell me about the sharpness of them,

contrast, distortion if any? FYI i'm doing portrait and scenic at

the most so i probably will get three lenses from range 50 - 180, any

recommendation guys? BTW about hong kong vendor how good are they?

someone told me that they sell a refurbished item, is this true or

they just don't want their price to be compare and i have to pass

robert white since Us dollar is weak right now against pound. Thanks

    in advance!!!

  14. Thanks again guys, this is really useful for me, another question is one member posted that in order to use a wider angle lens i have to obtain a body with lower magnification (0.58),so this mean i have to have two bodies with two different magnifiaction or i can just change the magnification number on the body so i don't have to buy two bodies ( not now but in the future if i find my self to be a leicamaniac). Thanks again and really appreciate any info.
  15. Thanks for the infos guys, and really appreciate it.I'm planning to spend around $1500 for first and try to get used one first and probably either 50 or 35mm lens ( i hope i can find one include with the body either M3 or M6) hwo about contax G2 guys? i saw one on ebay for the price around $1500 with three lenses, are they any good? i know they are using battery but they seem pretty small or same size with leica also they have zeiss lens. So thanks again, ciaoooo.
  16. HELLO,

I'M INTERSTING TO GET A LEICA CAMERA AND DON'T CARE WHETHER IT'S

OLDER OR NEWER MODEL, MY QUESTION IS I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT

0.58, O.72, 0.85 NUMBER THAT INDICATED ON EACH LEICA CAMERA SUCH AS

M6 OR M7 MAYBE THE OLDER MODEL ALSO? IS THAT NUMBER RELATED TO WHAT

LENS SHOULD I GET?,IS IT BETTER TO GET THE LATEST MODEL WITH TTL? IS

IT HELPFUL FOR A LOW LIGHT CONDITION? I'M TIRED TO USE MY BATTERY

EATING CAMERA AND JUST WANT TO ENJOY STREET PHOTOGRAPHY WITHOUT BIG

GEAR WHATSOEVER AND WITHOUT ANY BATTERY, I REALIZED THAT I'M READY TO

GET SEVERAL LENSES ONES I GET USE TO THIS CAMERA AND PERHAPS SECOND

BODY AS WELL.THANKS FOR ANY INFO!!!

  17. Dude!

If we live in star trek era and where everything will be in digital and in cheap way go for it and if you rich and have money to buy everything you want, get it right away but back to you, are you really gonna spend all your money and savings and you sell all your 35mm just to change format will it be make you a better photographer? and be professional in a very respect way? so think twice and master your skill first, also if you like and have an opportunity in your area where you live to rent some equipt that you are planning to buy try it first before you totally decide what you are gonna do in the future, all in all it's gonna comeback to yourself, ciao happy shooting and good luck!!!!

  18. Hello,

If you intend to get the mamiya 645E, the lens taht you should get is the one for E series, the other lenses that you mentioned are for other type of camera such as AF is for 645 Af type, Pro is for Pro/pro tl type, and RB is for the RB type and last one is RZ is for the RZ type camera. so from here you should be able to choose your lenses.Happy shooting!!!

  19. Hi every one! i consider to get an old medium format slr type after

all this time playing around with old TLR from all manufacturer like

rolleiflexes, mamiyas and yashica. One thing that i found made me

uncomfortable is TLR they don't allow me to have interchangeable

backs and lenses ( except mamiya but still no 2nd backs option) and

polaroid backs since i will begin to set up small studio in my home

so after some thoughts that this the time for me to get a more wider

options in medium format world. I particularly shoot for portrait and

right now i have chances to get an old hassy 500cm for $700 and

rollei 6006 both have planar lens(80mm)for about same price, question

is which one do you guys think is more reliable as an old camera and

base on compability with their system old and new? i know that hassy

we can use all their lens and backs from the earliest to the latest(

is this apply if we use old hassy body with new lens?), what about

rollei? i know a little about their system, one thing that i know

they both using zeiss lens. One more thing is i like 6x6 format so

forget about suggestion on other slr format system such as mamiya 645

or pentax. Thanks in advance for any advise.
