    Poster One

Good observation. I saw it also - and I asked if she could remove - and she said she never took it off (it must be imporant - I didn't pry) - so I left in.

I had her jumping and spinning into the camera while playing the flute (or pretending) - to loosen things up in the shoot. There are three more posters in my homework folder. (and a joking magazine cover I made for a homework assignment in a class I am taking).

I'll play around with the suggestions on fonts etc. I had never done a poster before like this. I tried dropping the font size down for the minor stuff - but it wasn't working for me... I will play some more. The school gave me an EPS of their logo and I used the color scheme (sampled with eye dropper) to set the color scheme of the text - it pulled things together much more nicely than the plain black type I had.

  1. I don't want to see anyone in Hell! Can I get a postcard?

Of the images you've posted in this series, you seem to be more in control of the lighting in this one. The work triggered me to look up some of F. Holland Day's self-portraits as Christ.

A very interesting perception shifting image. I had to look at it a couple times to understand it - because it looks so "natural". Great execution enhanced by excellent lighting.

Hey Barry. Yeah, it's strange to me to - but no Photoshop going on. Her hand in front is stretched out towards camera I think. My 24-105mm L zoom lens was at 24mm - which probably accounts for most of the distortion (the model was jumping up and down, spinning and leaping - photography aerobics). I was seated so I was essentially shooting up. Her hair is splayed out looking very full - I think I caught her just as she started her descent...

And yes - the 60's were a strange time. We could not figure out what the Oscar de la Renta "dress" was for. The model remarked it said "swimwear" - on the label. It was short.

A moody and well executed portrait, great control of depth of field, contrast of decay with youth, gloss of lips, texture of shirt. All comes together.

I'm with Rob - nice soft light and shadows. Colors great. Skin tone great. Good expression. Interesting. Too much space above. The knees are out of place at bottom of frame - and hands disappear. I often am fascinated by hands and bringing them into a portrait can be cool. Wrapping arms around legs, and going in tight.

    Slide time

Really fun and kinda odd (as I sit here in my day job). The kids are playing and rushing - and the title is "Slide Time" so the clock fits in a way - but it makes me think of work and schedules and pressure - so is their job to keeping running around climbing back up and sliding until lunch break? The sky looks slightly ominous creating tension against the sunlit play of the children.

Boy, I am in a strange mood today:-)
