  1. i carry business cards that i create on the computer and hand them out as i ask if i can photograph. i explain that i'm not a professional just someone who likes to 'take pictures'. most people are very friendly even if they don't want to be photographed.
  2. as a long time part time lurker at the leica forum i hope i can add a word or two here.

i'm mostly a lurker because i am no longer a leica user. i had an m4p years ago but sold it. i only use rangefinder cameras, mostly medium format but a sprinkling of 35mm also. i would call myself a 'street shooter' mostly.

i don't post or chat much on the lpf cause i don't feel like i fit in and generally don't feel very welcomed. this is by no means a complaint, it's my choice and i choose to respect the leica shooters and gear heads for whom this forum (my assumption) is for.

were there a seperate 'street' forum i would most likely participate more and feel more like a part of it.

i like the simplicity of it being a 'street' forum but have found that flexibility is key to a successful enterprise.

just my 2 cents from a local lurker.

  3. i bought a brand new oly 35rc about 30 years ago when i was more of a pup than i am now.

i still use it and have never had a problem with it.

the foam seals need to be replaced now but that camera has been rock solid for me. it has a great lens and the meter is more than acceptable.

it's a great camera to throw into a bag or big pocket and go for a walk.

  4. i once owned 2 cle's and 2 sets of all 3 lenses. i loved this camera but sold them both when i got into medium format. it wasn't a philosopical decision based on 35 vs 120 film, but my arthritis made handling 120 film in the darkroom easier than 35.

i regret selling those cameras every time i think about them. i once owned an m4-p also and while it was a classy well made beauty, i miss the cle's more.

    just a thought...

  5. while i mostly shoot b&w in lower light situations, i have also shot slow colour transparency film in daylight and i find the meter accurate. sometimes you might have to think about it before shooting, checking out the overall scene for exposure variations - but it hasn't slowed me down any.
  6. i use 2 mamiya 6's with 2 lenses. i like the idea of not having to change lenses and the option of 2 types of film. before i got the second body it also worked ok but obviously a bit slower if i wanted a different lens to use.

with the 6 being out of poduction and some repairs undo-able, i feel more confident with 2 bodies.
