  1. Hi, First these are not that bad for your first roll. To kill the shaddows turn the power on your flash down and move it closer to the model, stick to one light in the begining and use a reflector in close to fill in the shaddows. Good luck. Jim.

Chris, yes i think your work would sell if it's all as good as this. What Mother/Father could say no to this. I know i have sold many similar shots. And after they buy this they will ask do you have any more like this but not the same shot as grandma wants one. The only thing i don't like about the shot is that there is no seperation between the childs hair and the background.

Erik, this is not a bad shot but it looks like the bright sky has caused you to under expose the shot a little. You can see there is detail in the sky so a grey drad filter might have been the answer here. regards Jim.

I like the lighting, the toning is a little to blue for my taste, it's not what i would choose. I take many photographs of Tulips i would be interested in your comments.

Hi Neil, You have taken a nice shot here the forground is great but the sky lets the shot down a little. Tilting the camera down so not so much of the sky and more of the forground could be seen would have helped make it a better shot. Thats what i think anyway. Jim.
  2. Hi Len, i had to have a look at your pics after your comment on my waterfront shot. This is the photograph from this folder i like best. As was said above i think it would be a better shot if DOF was larger, but its still a nice shot, i like it. Jim.

Nice idea, You realy show how busy the streets are in NY. How many shots are spoiled by passersby kicking you're tripod or bumping in to the camera. Also how many exposures did you make to get this shot?. I would like to try this. Jim.

This is a nice shot not at all what i expected from a zoo. You don't say what the shutter speed was but hand held at 300mm you have done well to keep things sharp. 1/250-1/500 ?

The lamp post at top left does not need to be in the shot crop off to the top of the building to take it out. If you had not tilted the camera so much you could have done this in camera and also included more of the street.
