  1. Me, too. A lot. The combination of the two animals together - especially those two: a big bovine thing and a bird of prey, both black - almost forming a single shape. Great!
  2. I agree: more space on the right - but also, a little less at the top/more at the bottom. Still, the colors are beautiful, the figures striking, and the composition certainly more than holds interest. I love the way the woman on the right is turned toward us - but we can't see her face. That's really great!
  3. I think fill-flash would have turned this into a "cutesy" pic - a Hallmark moment. As it is, it has some compositional, conceptual, and emotional integrity: the image is interesting graphically, AND in terms of emotion.

This would work for me completely, if the focus on the girl were sharper (perhaps it's my monitor?). I like the soft background, the framing, and the (in camera) cropping.
  4. I think Lucas's comments on this image are right on. His comments on the daily, precarious "life in the balance" practices of Asia are, as well. I noticed the same thing - it's even worse in India. And when something DOES happen - the fat dog tips over the vat, or what have you - people just pick up and carry on as best they can - none of this western cry-baby crap. Ken, you are lucky to live in a locale regarded by many as one of the most exotic in the world. It's interesting to see how, in your images, you interpret it from the standpoint of "everyday" rather than "exotic". btw, I notice this was "taken in a moving car" - were you driving?
  5. I too am glad that you turned off those things which remove the water with a harmonious swing, to get this cool shot. It sounds like you keep with you pretty much constantly that thing which records light onto film?
  6. The fact that he's a Sufi dancer makes this doubly intriging. The way the form starts out wide and the blur heavy in the foreground, then tapers toward his head, is very effective. If I had to quibble, I'd say that the only improvement that could be made to this, is if his head were in slightly sharper focus. Otherwise, nice image, and by far the best in this folder.
