Natural-looking poses but I think a shalllower depth of field would have been appropriate.....I shouldn't think the couple would be too interested in the detail on the steps in the background?!
  1. At the risk of contradicting; I like the slight distortion as it helps give the photo and edgy, dangerous feel. I really like the dark ceiling and how it brings out the smoke curling up from the joss sticks. Strong pose from the figure too. All working together to get a shot full of impact. Excellent.

To contradict - I think the partial shadow works well with the off-angle horizon.....it gives the shot a confrontational edge of sorts. A striking photo that I like.

The low viewpoint helps make the shot stronger, though perhaps a shallower depth of field would help focus attention on the subject more?

(there's some good shots of similar subjects in your folder...particularly like the guys slumped against the wall...though I was always instructed never to prop the SA80 as-was up against the wall like that. Anyway, thanks for sharing; very interesting stuff)

Well spotted. I think the composition could be improved by a slight crop so the pigeon isn't quite so central...slicing some from the right would have the bird looking "in" to the photo and would probably be best.

I really like this shot; strong composition and an interesting viewpoint. The grain works in your favour here too...it helps evoke the "hard" nature of amateur boxing for me. Great stuff.
  2. Taken at dawn, I was experimenting with the flash and how the road sign in the foreground would react......does it work for you? I was trying for something different than the usual shot of this monolith.

(This is Ayers Rock (white man name) or Uluhru in the centre of Australia in case you don't recognise it....)
