Allen, what year was that?
I actually took this in March of 2020 just before the pandemic went into full swing. I think that marquis board (1997) actually refers to the beginning of that establishment, but I'm not sure.

One of my photo friends suggested Plus X roll film has a very similar look to Tri-X Pro 320. The curves are apparently quite similar. Trying to find a replacement for Plus X roll film, but in 4x5, will 320 do? How do you find their looks in comparison? And how does Tri-X 320 shoot outdoors in bright sun? I find Plus X works very well in those conditions.
Tri-X Pro 320 is suited to low-flare interior lighting/flash and outdoor portraiture with low-contrast backlighting. That said, I have used it for landscapes in all lighting conditions with nice results. Here's an example with a Pentax 6x7:
And another (Bronica ETR):
As far as similarity to Plus-X, you can be the judge; after post-processing it's hard for me to discern one film from another, I know others are more adept at that.

Alan, was it shot @f1.2?
Hi Christopher, I don't believe so, this was still in the afternoon, so plenty of daylight; that lens just stayed on the camera which I used occasionally for night scenes as well.

Welcome everyone to Week 15 of 2023, the Leica and Rangefinders W/NW Thread! Here's a continuation from last week's theme at the Blues Alley jazz club in Washington, DC, this time with Steve Novosel on bass in the tribute to John Coltrane musicologist Andrew White. It's worth mentioning that Mr. Novosel is 83 years old and practically stole the show with his amazing virtuosity.

Well, after allancobb's performance shot, which was so good, some from me of a performance we went to. Not the performers, the light was not good - flashing disco lights., ah, search for the light, So patrons. I'm sorry for the excess. We watch Ben Hur tonight, our oester repast. Again, with my monochrom and 75mm lens. Regards, Arthur (apiarist1).
No need to be sorry Arthur, all nicely done, bring them on! And thanks for the generous comments.

Welcome everyone to Week 14 of 2023, the Leica and Rangefinders W/NW Thread! Here's a scene from last night's performance at the Blues Alley jazz club in Washington, DC, with Antonio Parker on alto saxophone and Nasar Abadey on drums in a tribute to John Coltrane musicologist Andrew White.

How do you find using the Q? Any downsides?
Hi Arthur, I've had mine since mid-January, and in a nutshell, I love it.
Keeping in mind I have the original Q (Type 116) and not the 47MP Q2, which was beyond my price range, even used. With the single fixed 28mm lens (an excellent f/1.7 Summilux by the way), I still have the flexibility of interchangeable lenses with the selection of crop factors to 35mm and 50mm equivalents, which cover 90% of my typical Leica shooting. I find its EVF to be quite good as well as the live view presentation. Handling is excellent.
The only possible downsides (not so much for me, but possibly for others) is the resolution reduction when using the crop modes to 35mm (15 MP) or 50mm (8 MP). Being used to the M8 and its 10.5 MP resolution, it's not so much a factor for me. The Q2 solves that somewhat by starting out at 47MP at 28mm (vs. the 24MP at 28mm for my Q1), then going down from there, even offering a 75mm crop mode. Some people complain about the original Q's battery life (again, I haven't seen it as a big deal) and/or the lack of weather sealing (again I use normal precautions in the rain that I would for any camera), both issues solved in the Q2.
I hope this helps!

allancobb, very nice. I thought that there would be some 'star trails' with that length of exposure. Maybe not...
Thanks Arthur. Actually with a 28mm lens you can go all the way to 18 seconds (but the M240 at ISO 3200 limited me to nine). The formula is to divide 500 by the lens focal length (full frame) to determine how long an exposure can be before star trails develop..

Thanks Sanford. Broadway in Nashville is just the place to do that, it was happening right then!
