big blank sky doesn't work well, and the convergence created by tilting the camera up also detracts. Would have worked better by carefully leveling the camera on the horizon to eliminate convergence and then cropping to a panoramic format to eliminate excess sky and water.
  1. Unusual and interesting to see a geyser so strongly backlit like this, making the steam look black. The visually interesting part of the plume seems to be the right side-- would have liked to see the framing shifted a bit to the left to minimize the dull sky on the left and show more of the plume.
  2. Again, rather static with a centered horizon and not a lot of strong subject matter. Those swans really kick the foreground on the other shot, don't they? Looks like you had a beautiful day in this area. Good exposures-- shooting chromes?

This one doesn't work as well for me because of the almost centered horizon and static, balanced composition. I wonder what we'd see with a much wider angle lens that shows a lot more sky and water?

It's pretty hard to make a flower shot dramatic or even say much of anything. Yet, this one is pretty flat and could really stand some rim lighing or dewdrops to give some visual interest. The black upper left corner is annoying and should have been cropped.
  3. Beautiful effect and execution. Sometimes less is more though--- the bubbles distract from the overall effect. I think a small, even tiny stream of bubbles would be much more subtle and give the viewer a pleasant surprise. They will notice something "different" about the photo, and upon looking at it more, they will see the bubbles. Images are so common these days that we tend to glance at them move on, but adding some surrealism and mystery with a surprise draws the viewer to look at the image longer and remember it.

It's hard to tell because of differences in monitor settings, but I'd like to see more light in the eyes and on the dark muzzle. I know how hard these animals are to keep still so good job on the posing.

Nice shot. The only thing I would do is burn in (or clone in) the lower right corner. A big white box like that catches the eye and distracts from the subject.

I wish I could see more of his "office." That's one reason I added a 24mm Elmarit-M to my arsenal, to be able to work a bit closer in cramped quarters. I think he's trying to decide whether or not to make you shovel some coal.
  4. Since you modified the photo to emphasize the message, I must assume you are endorsing the message and inviting political comment.

Perhaps you and the pampered, spoiled children in the photo fail to recognize the irony that if these kids were mounting a protest in Afghanistan a few short months about about Taliban excesses, THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN SHOT AND BURIED TOGETHER IN A SHALLOW GRAVE. God bless America.
