  1. I remember seeing those. Interesting camera. My Dad was a Minox fan, so that's what I use.
  2. Well, I put these in my Minox enlarger. Even at full lamp brightness I couldn't see any image on the easel. Guess the paper is just too dense, even though this is pretty thin paper. I scanned these to look at the photos in positive. Not too good. This method may have an advantage somewhere, but not for general photos.
  3. Thanks, John. The "film" seemed to advance without any undue force. As I said, someone else had already done this so I figured it would work. I was concerned about thickness too. The strip was only 10 in. so not very long. That pretty much fills the cassette - I don't think anything longer would work.
  4. There was a post on facebook page 'Minox Vintage Photography' that a guy was making paper negatives in his Minox. Kind of inspired me to try it, even though it will probably never be very useful. I used Adorama VC RC paper cut to a 10 in. strip. Exposed at EI 10. Look pretty good. I'm going to set up the Minox enlarger when I get a chance and see if I can print them. I'll post them if I get any results.
  5. I see from that they had a case for the finders. Would like to find one of those - no luck so far.
  6. Not been happy printing straight on VC paper. It's supposed to be Grade 2 with no filters, but it is often to hard for my taste. I bought a old set of VC off eBay for a few bucks. The lens/filter holder that slips out of my enlarger has just the place for the filters above the lower condenser lens. I cut the material in 1 5/8 discs and notched them according to the grade. Did a printing session yesterday and I am much happier. See my gallery for photos.
  7. Depending on where you live/commute, makes perfect sense.
  8. Finally got around to printing some Minox negatives - I'm about four sets behind. This is a composite of my eclipse photos. Hand-held Minox B, Nikon 8X40 binoculars, arc welding glass filter. Delta 100 in Microdol printed on Adorama RC paper and scanned. Not great but was fun.
  9. I have the later version Minox enlarger. No built-in safe light/filter. Fortunately, I have several bulbs left over from My Dad's collection. Looking on eBay, modern substitutes are very expensive - 5 for $105 + $16 shipping, DR.G.FISCHER bulb substitute, minox enlarger lamp adapter+5 pieces of 6V 30Wbulbs | eBay I hope mine last a very long time! I do suppose in the long term, nearly $25 each is not so bad for a rare item. I normally print 3 1/2 X 5 for my album. Reprints can be any size depending on the need. Show us some prints!
  10. Item B - is that the reflex finder? I have one of those too, but yes, you have to hold them at a distance. Sort of makes a TLR our of the Minox. I like it for certain situations.
  11. Yes, very nice! I especially like the rail shot, the red grain elevator really makes the photo. I wasn't aware the DSC came in silver. Makes it look more like a Minox - although my favorite is my black one which was my Dad's.
  12. I've considered the digital Minox (DSC) just for fun. It seems they aren't all that good, but would be an interesting addition to my collection. It seems they have pretty much disappeared - not even to be found on eBay. Anybody else here use one, or have tried one? Would like to know more.
  13. Just received a right angle finder off eBay. This is the one that clips over the body and can be put on left or right. I didn't know just how it worked and was afraid it would have to be removed to cycle the camera. Don't need to worry - the camera cycles fine. I like the idea that it can be used in either direction unlike the ones that slip over the top of the camera. Anybody else here use these? I can't wait to try it out to get photos of people when they don't know I'm taking their photo.
  14. You can see a bunch of clips of Minox's in the movies on You Tube. I find it really funny to watch these as the actors, in many cases, have no idea how the camera works. Such things as opening and closing the camera, then taking the picture, using the flash contact on top as the shutter button, holding the camera completely covering the lens (that one a lot!), and of course, never focusing, taking a light reading, etc. They are fun though - enjoy.
  15. I have one of those - was my Dad's. My favorite Minox.
  16. I like these. Nothing like keeping your Minox handy when you're traveling. I'm glad you print your shots. To me, that's the only way to go with a Minox. No digital here.
  17. Right! Pretty expensive. Really cute though.
  18. Thanks. I've been using 3 1/2 X 5 old style photo albums as I make my own prints. I like yours too.
