    I like the moody look of a lot of your pictures, including this one. You should really consider making them a little bigger for the website though!

    Aesthetically, her right arm is a little funny because of the framing, but it doesn't really matter--this is a great, timeless picture of a beautiful little girl.
  1. Ha! That's great. Funny--I have this exact same whisk in my kitchen and just announced to my wife a week ago that it would surely win the gold medal for world's most useless implement... How wrong I was!

    Great detail--such funny creatures! Is this a 4 frames overlay to expose for the reflection of the sky? Good job getting those 4 and keeping this guy still the whole time.

    This is a greyscale (and slightly sepia-toned) version of the original

    post. Film was Kodak Gold 100, taken late evening ~ 9pm, tripod,

    probably f8, cable release. I think I might prefer this to the color;

    what do you think? Thanks!

    Wow, that's really astounding. Seems a little tightly cropped on the top and bottom. Really spectacular though--deserves to be blown up and framed, for sure. I have to visit there someday. Is this Norway?
  2. I think this would actually be better without the cat; nothing against cats, but it feels kind of "tacked on" here. If the cat were looking at the book and the book were turned the right way, it would be a different story. Otherwise, love it.

    Gone

    This is really powerful, not just the color, but also the fleeting nature of life that I think you were going for--everything just being blown about by the wind. I don't like the red thing on the ground; otherwise, love it!
  3. Well, the stove is very retro, but I think this is composed a bit awkwardly... Not sure I have better ideas, but here's a couple of options that come to mind: pan on back left burner, handle more or less towards us, wide angle lens aimed across the stove from right to left catching the super-cool logo out of the "corner of your eye". Perhaps something other than whole eggs in the pan--seems a little forced. In any case, maybe a composition that shows more of the stove and is not dominated by the big cast iron skillet. I like your idea, though. Makes me want to eat a quiche. Thanks!
  4. I don't think I'd crop it. I tried cropping the upper portion down close to the roof (leaving about the same amount of open space as there is in front of the car). I liked that the car wasn't centered anymore, but didn't like the proportions of the photo--too long and narrow. I think it's tough to do much cropping here--you're not really close enough to the car for a detail shot of just one section, and if you're going to show the whole car, you're kind of stuck with these proportions. That said, I think it's great the way it stands--very eye-catching. The toning is fantastic too. It really suits the subject perfectly. Thanks.
