Giangiorgio Crisponi 501 Posted April 19, 2020 Magpie -(Pica pica ). I photographed this Magpie , during take-off, with Nikon D500, Sigma 150-600 Sport, f/8, 1/2000sec, ISO 500. Thanks for your comments Link to comment
tai 3 Posted April 19, 2020 Great take off, Giangiorgio! Amazing pose, plumage, colors, details, background ...! I have never seen such a blue magpie! Beautiful composition with a bird over the branch. I guess this expressive branch is a point of observation. Bravo! Sincerely, Tatiana Link to comment
bernath 2 Posted April 19, 2020 An excellent shot in every respect. I think it is either azure-winged magpie (Cyanopica cyanus) or Iberian magpie (Cyanopica cooki), although only recent genetic analysis has shown them to be distinct species, ciao Sandor Link to comment

Giangiorgio Crisponi 501 Posted April 19, 2020 Thanks Sandor for your nice comment and suggestions on names. This bird was photographed in Extremadura so it could be as you suggest an Iberian magpie (Cyanopica cooki), ciao Giangiorgio Link to comment

michaellinder 16,613 Posted April 22, 2020 Giangiorgio, believe this or not, I've never seen a magpie. However, I know a few humans whose cackling may imitate one! Again your artistry and technical ability come through loud and clear in this image. Please note my full agreement with all the previous comments. To add one of my own, quite aside from the bird, the piece of wood in the bottom right is quite interesting in appearance and structure. It reminded me of a toad with a large wart on its back. - - My best always, michael - - Ciao!! Link to comment
Giangiorgio Crisponi 501 Posted April 22, 2020 Thank you so much Michael for your appreciated comment and for your interesting interpretation of the shape of the trunk, ciao Giangiorgio Link to comment
