An hour of storm with lightning. The picture was taken from my window

and it was obtained by merging ten pictures taken with the

intervalometer with exposure of 10 sec, f / 8, ISO 100 each. Thanks

for your comments

You caught an excellent nature moment so well, what good position fortunately you had somewhere on top of the city and perspective for this phenomenon was ideal. Is interesting how upper part is seen with a bit of transparency due to lightnings, somewhere in the middle even rain can be seen.Is a shot maybe can be done one in a few years. My compliments and for sure this experiment was a delight to you and result is ten points.

Thank you for explaining your technique.  The lightning is great.  More interesting to me is the 14-point starbursts from the tiny light sources and the subtleties that are created by the 10-stack image.  I owned a copy of this lens, but mine fell apart in a few years.  I hope I can get to this island one day.  Regards, Jeff

Yes, really a very striking photograph of the storm. I imagine the thunders in my ears with all these lightnings. Congratulations.

Interesting variety of spikes and bolts. I visited your town of Cagliari, Sardinia with my small Navy shiip when we sailed the Med. An interesting out of the way port. place at least then. If I had to offer a suggestion comment it would be to perhaps clone out the bright light on the left which somewhat diminishes the contrast with the town to the sky. Buon lavoro.

To me, this is dramatic and has a wow factor without being terribly creative, though it took a sense of craft to achieve. I wish the hillside against the sky wasn't quite so sharp because that, for me, has an inorganic feel. There's nothing terribly compelling about the lower part of the picture, a kind of bland cityscape made a bit more interesting by the night lights. I find the bright incandescent lights in the lower left one of the more interesting and potentially expressive features of the photo, being in man-made competition with the natural light show in the sky, the yellower street lights against the whiter lightning strikes. It does pull my eye, but not in a bad way. It pulls my eye just the way the lights of the city will do. Perhaps a bit more dialogue between lower lights throughout the foreground and upper lights in the sky would have engaged me more and given this an expressive angle that would set it apart.

I agree with Fred. We have now seen many shots like this, and this is a good one. I also agree with Gerry though that the bright yellow lights on the left are very distracting. There is, of course, a sense of deep unreality about such a scene, which in the end I find a little unsatisfying - much like the many shots one sees of the aurora borealis: they too look good but do not correspond with our direct experience of them.
