Old Tree with Snow

WJT

LARGE view looks best, in my opinion. Exposure was 1 second at f22. Gitzo 1345, Acratech ball head.

Looks like it's your Magic Tree, Walter. Excellent composition and Acros worked just great. Lots of detail and very pleasant contrast. Well done!

Yes indeed, this is yet another view of my Magic Tree, and the first time that I have tried the Neopan. Thanks for the visits Yury and Ivana. Regards.

Beautiful scene Walt. You handled the exposure well considering the difficult situation with the snow. The only that bothers me, and it's just probably me, is the lone evergreen towards the left, right above the fence is grabbing and keeping my to it. Other than that, I love it. Almost feels like the Budweiser clydesdales should be in the scene. BTW, don't you just hate when people put those idiotic cartoon gifs on their critiques?

Thank you Sondra and Will for the visits and thoughts. And thank you very much Will for noticing the exposure, as it was indeed a bit of a problem to solve. I had used my older P67 (the "Big Pup") for this one and it has a full frame averaging meter prism. With all the snow to contend with, I gave it 2 stops more exposure than what the meter called for. That proved to be a good decision since my whites are white (instead of an 18% gray) yet still retain detail.

Yup, I can see those Clydesdales coming on down that road too! Too bad they didn't materialze (I mean, they haul a wagon-load of beer along too, don't they?).

As far as the lone evergreen, that's my favorite part of this one. I was actually thinking of cropping all the way down to it and the adjacent trees. With the 6x7 negative and this Neopan I could do that and still have a clean print. I like that lone dark conifer positioned out there because, for me, it helps balance the diagonal line stretching from my old Magic Tree outward. I was hoping that the fence would contain the viewer's interest and push him back into the center of the frame. You would have to be difficult ;0) Regards.

Very nice tones & contrast, Walter. The evergreen didn't stand out to me, probably because the darkness of it balances with the base of the old tree. I like this a lot!

Notice that I did state that "it's probably just me" . To me it just sticks out. Not so much in a bad way. Just grabs my attention. I did see that the gif is gone. Hooray for that. You need to stop taking these great photos and start painting some stick figures on a sailboat saling into the sunset on black velvet. ;)

Will, I picked-up the roll of heavy black velevet today. Now I just need some Day-Glo paints and a cheesy model to finish the job. I should make the TRP in a couple of days. Regards.

Intriguing web of branches. Nice - and stringet, because of the provoking white/empty area in the center - composition as well. Yet I miss a minimum of structure in the very dark part.

I admit more effort may have been needed in that area, but you have to agree that it's better than my first choice ("Untitled"). I can lapse into being quite a dullard at times. Thanks for the visit! (I think? ;0) Regards

I was afraid you were going to ask for a suggestion - in all fairness I'm hard pressed for an idea too ...... So maybe that's the title ..

Hard Pressed ...

Behave yourself Ken! Thinking back on this, however, I should have named it Padron, because that is what I was smoking while setting up the shot. That would have confabulated everyone.

Wait! Better still...how 'bout Hard Pressed Padron? Huh? Regards.

Walter, very subtle image. The exposure is very good, as Will pointed out. I imagine that this is a lonely road, not very well traveled and very quiet. Peaceful. Well seen. - Sean

thanks for stopping by, I always value your view. Actually, this road is fairly well travelled; I had to wait for a car or two to pass so that I could get a clean shot. Regards.

"...Surprised I didn't..."??? Will, you cut me to the quick! My good buddy kaushit wouldn't like that at all. ;0) Regards.

He's stopped commenting on my photos all together. I guess because I didn't respond to his generic comments. Now if I could just get Julio to stop sending me the M.R. invites. ;)
