Metered with a Gossen Luna Pro SBC at ISO 4, the exposure was 4 seconds at f22. The filter was attached to the rear lens clip. Gitzo 1325/Acratech ball head. The film used was the Aura version of the 820c, without the anti-halation backing. This is best viewed LARGER.

Very good image Walter, and I take it this is an true infrared... a extremely beautiful technique... I hope to try it one day. I really enjoy the wide angle, almost fish-eye distortion here, and the finer details of the trees and clouds... paricularly the cloud top left, which almost resembles the face of an old bearded man. Regards,

Thanks Matt. Yes, this is a true infrared. The filter starts to transmit around 720nm and the film's emulsion cuts off around 820nm, so we are looking at only about 100nm of the electromagnetic spectrum here. The clouds on the left reminded me of a human form, too. Kind of a spectral spectre so to say ;0) Regards.

hi walter, a different look from you, which i really enjoy. the infred look, composition and cleanness of that scene, if that's a word, are really excellent. i prefer this over the other cuz its different and everything within the frame belongs. the streak in the sky is a terrific touch. my one question is whether it should be rotated just a little to the right. it seems a little tilted left, though i don't think it is. it may be the bend in the house, but perhaps a slight turn would help? just a thought. really fine piece of work.

I think you're right about the rotation Ben. I might repost this laer. Thanks and Regards.

Walter, I like this! The round entrance porch is great and I like the IR effect to add a dash of eerieness to it. I think I would have gone even more extreme on the fisheye, cut out some foreground and got closer to the porch - something like this -

Is that a ghostly face looking down from top right? Yikes!

I really like this, too! The combination of the IR and the fish-eye lens make it a very interesting image. The clouds and the reflection of the sun in the trees are a great background, and the porch of the house is very inviting!

Thanks Colin. I agree; closer would have been better. I was only about two feet away from the front steps but I should have moved even closer. Actually, I wanted to go onto the porch (veranda) and take a few shots from there, but all the NO TRESPASSING notices made me a bit uncomfortable. The clouds on the right sort of remind me a spectral spectre with a scepter (sorry, I couldn't resist that).

LOU ANN, my girl, where have you been!!! Thanks for stopping by. Regards.

Walt, my guy, I have been in Europe!! Actually, I had a rather difficult school year and was too wiped out every day to "hang around" PN ... and then, immediately after school was out I whisked off to Europe for a month. I'm back now, and totally pumped to get back into PN and if you stop by now and then you'll see some of my "stuff" ... right now some images from France. Warm regards!!

Walter, I love the house, the sky, and your fisheye lens. The IR film accentuates an otherworldly, beautiful sort of decay. Nice shot!
