brian_m.1
Seeing vintage cameras in old movies always intrigues me. I have couple of screenshots of Run for The Sun where Jane Greer is holding what is obviously a rangefinder of good quality. Can anybody spot the brand and the model? It is probably German as the movie predates the rise of Japanese cameras. I hope I am not violating some copyright law.(Fair Use perhaps?)
Bill Snell
Pretty sure it's a Contax II (or a Kiev). Bill.
brian_m.1
Whatever it is, that's gorgeous glass. Looks like a f1.2.
Niels - NHSN
It looks like a Contax II and Sonnar 50mm f/1.5 to me. Niels
Ricochetrider
Conversely, I’ve been noticing more & more “old” (ie: film) cameras in NEW movies! No examples come immediately to mind but it seems a strong trend.
Sanford
I talked to a "kid" using a Pentax Spotmatic the the day. A fad among the young.

Recently noticed Rooney Mara in the 2015 film "Carol" being handed what looks like an Argus C3--period correct for the mid-50s setting.
Sanford
Probably just grabbing what's available from the prop room.
Ricochetrider
IMO there's a lot of deliberate placement of cameras in films & shows lately. Saw something on Netflix that had just come out, in the past week. One scene had somebody holding what was clearly a Nikon F in it.
JDMvW
I very much recommend the James Stewart/Grace Kelly/Hitchcock use of the Exakta in Rear Window (1954)

Rick Helmke
I don’t have a photo but I believe Melinda Dillon’s character in Close Encounters was using a Rollei rangefinder. There were also several Nikon F2’s with motor drives and at least one with a 250 exposure back. Rick H.
