hjoseph7
Anybody here ever use, or currently use the Nikon Coolpix camera for Birding ? Their latest models, the P950 and P1000 have a lens that is the equivalent of 24-1000 mm on 135. That is incredible reach that bests even some of the most powerful and expensive Tele lenses on the market. With this camera I'm assuming that you really don't need a pair of binoculars given that you can see everything on the back LCD. Unfortunately it uses a tiny 1/2 inch sensor, not sure how that affects the resoultion of the final image ?
pritchard
I have the 950. Attached is a snap I took with it from about 40 feet away. To get the best results you will need to do post processing. It does not have the dynamic range of a dslr so you have to be careful with exposure.
